What's new

Turkish Naval Programs

Oh i saw this part now " with a third batch (ships 9 to 12) to feature the more extensive modifications and become known as TF-100 to replace the Yavuz-class."

It's clear now... Thx...

Do we need bigger frigates then TF-100 & TF-2000 ?.. Or with same size TF-2000 but different role like surface to surface...

Our biggest frigate has a length of 118m and 3400 tonnes deplacement and We are waving our flags as one of the biggest naval fleet of region. Imagine now How the Turkish domestic designs are going to impose new doctrines in region.

Milgem corvette :100m
Milgem Block-II: 110m (Milgem-II will provide bigger firepower than 118m German MEKO Track-II frigates We have in inventory)
TF-2000: Around 135-140m length and 6500 tonnes (More or less British Type 45 Destroyer firepower)

Isn't TF-2000 an air defence frigate ?.. I mean won't we need a frigate/destroyer against land targets & ships after we have TF-2000 ?.. Can TF-2000 do all of these operations ?.. Also we will have only 4 of them as planned... It is enough for air defence role but what about land targets & ships ?..

Also you can add TF-100 which will be most probably longer then 110 m to your list...

Hımm, then I say no.

According to RFP project will take 6 years. Meaning it will be completed in 2019. And the result of the project witll be two prototypes not a ready weapon system.

Also.. this is just an RFP. We don't know if there were any participants to project. If this project has been started or canceled.

Anyways, i will look up more about this SAVTAG program.

Atmaca SSM is supposed to have land attack capability along with Anti-Ship algoritms. Gezgin land attack cruise missiles are going to be deployed on that frigates which will provide impressive deep precision strike capability to Turkish Navy.

Nope, mate..... i used CFD in a very amateurish way in our final project in University. I forget most of the stuf about the program and fluent dynamics in general. :)

But i can follow what you are saying. :)
i say this in advance i am not a reliable source for fluids, just have a common knowledge :)
LOA: 110m, Around ten meters longer than current Milgem.

i heard from a friend joined motion tests of current milgem design, he said due to very slender fore type the ship has a weak seakeeping on pitch motion. again as i heard 3-4 ships might have very minor changes on fore side , to provide better seakeeping, i say this because i have seen one more milgem model in laboratory ,covered with textile ,or it might be another one.
also for TF-100 i have seen some models based one DTMB-5415 type, sonar dome bulbous type frigate model, uncovered one and told as "testing something different" that might be TF-100 preparation.
One more thing, propulsion change mentioned, milgem block-II looks to have one air intake, different from block-I as 2 different intake for diesels and turbine, any possibility block II will have a COGOG or COGAG ?

Can our guys apply these minor changes on 1st & 2nd MİLGEM for better seakeeping ?..

İ think yes because they are enough experienced for commercial ships , just naval ones are very first but i believe those academicians was enough experienced to handle it because they are working on milgem since the idea is born. and i assumed only 3rd and 4th ship will have some changes around fore that we might not realize with naked eye (only assumption) .

for 1st and 2nd ships , i dont think it can be applied, it need structural changes as well and once changed a point's location, need to adjust whole region of plates with curvature matching that cant be redo on a built up ship . Bu so far i remember these minor changes isnt effective on seakeeping, bulbous size can be changed too ,i have no idea because both model was covered with textile .

Ok thx that's good news... I was upset when i saw your post and thought that this can not be fixed... So there is no problem... :enjoy:

And now...

I searched our navy's website and got some infos from there...

http://www.dzkk.tsk.tr/denizweb/english/platformlar/platform.php

And tried to make our current corvette & frigate fleet and our future corvette & frigate fleet list...

I saw that in numbers we need more ships... Some units are missing in some classes on the other hand a class is totally missing... Also we will have 2 more corvettes then current situation... Sure new ships are better and have more firepower but in the end I don't know our navy plans what...

Here it is...

6 units Burak Class Corvettes 80m => 8 MİLGEM (Blok I & 99m Block II 110m) (2 more corvettes)

4 units Yavuz Class Frigates 115m => 4 TF-100 110m+ (Same units)

4 units Barbaros Class Frigates 118m => ??? (No Barbaros Class)

8 units Gabya Class Frigates 135m => 4 TF-2000 135m+ (4 less Gabya Class)

:undecided:

Anyways... Let's wait and see...

Yavuz class number is not 6 , it is 4(four).

So the near future plan is:

8 ada class corvette(+2 corvette) ,
12 general purpose frigates (4 tf100 frigates, 4 barboros frigates,4 g-class frigates with essm ),
4 aaw frigate ( 4 g-class will be retired by them) .

After this , we can see in the medium future,
+4 tf100 to exchange 4 other g class and
4 tf-200? to exchange 4 barboros i guess)

In far future 2 or 4 destroyers shall be added to my opinion.

RMK's corvette design based on fincantieri's Search and Rescue ships, alread this design was a corvette but converted to a SAR for Turkey and built in RMK,
RMK joined to tenders in foreign countries with this model, also with a OPV and multi-role vessel, but failed because they had no experience of building a combatant , thats why Milgem was a good chance for them

Beside all, RMK has some problem in management with financial issues, often controlled by management of Koç holding.

one more thing to say, their backbone team which made design of all these had been fired already . :)

Yes, that would be so good... Also they will build some other ships to escort our LHD...
