HALE is Global Hawk - 65,000 ft.

Well, Global Hawk has turbofan.

It's kinda obvious that Anka-B won't reach the same service ceiling unless we use a turbofan engine too.

And im damn sure we won't jump from diesel engine UAV to that level.

There isn't much competitive products and Such categories are being shaped slowly. There isn't a common standart in this area but The sources are classifying the UAV categories in accordance with AirForces names using different type of UAV's...

USA concept;
up to 60000ft: MALE
60000-65000ft: HALE
over 65000ft: Very High Altitude

but Following concept is also accepted by some sources

up to 25000ft: Tactical
up to 35000ft: MALE
over 35000ft: HALE
over 65000ft: Very High Altitude Ultra Endurance

I read the whole article on the newspaper and it said it did more than 100 sorties( dont know what that is ) . Also in an interview with TAI head it said there will be armed ANKA much better one in 2015-16. ANKA is surely one of the best MALE UAV'S in the world and looks great aswell.

This is the news from today. Apparently ANKA is still mired with problems, but at least they seem to be working organized to locate the problems and solve them. That's good.

ANKA, the Turkish Aerospace Industry’s (TAI) unmanned air vehicle, crashed due to a technical problem during its final tests on Sept. 27.

ANKA made its first test flight in December 2010, and has since been used in around 100 sorties. It started its final test flights in September 2012.

According to a statement made by the TAI, during the final test flight on Sept. 27 a breakdown occurred in the prototype vehicle because of a technical failure. “Research to identify the technical failure is ongoing. The final test flights will continue with other UAVs,” the statement said.

The TAI has previously tested its ANKA drone and is now preparing an armed version of ANKA for the Turkish military.

Turkey had been planning to launch its unmanned planes this summer, in the hope of using them against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Türkiye’nin ilk insansız hava aracı ANKA’nın geçtiğimiz ay test uçuşu sırasında düşmesinin sebebi belli oldu. Yer kontrol istasyonuyla 20 saniye boyunca bağlantıyı kaybeden ANKA’ya, görev bilgisayarı tarafından ‘kendini imha et’ komutu verildi. ANKA da burnu üzerine düştü. Buradaki amacın, kullanılan teknolojinin düşmanın eline geçmesini engellemek olduğu belirtiliyor.




Test uçuşu sırasında düşen insansız hava aracı ANKA’ya ilişkin kaza kırım raporu için çalışmalarını sürdüren Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayi (TUSA&#350 uzmanları, ön incelemeyi tamamladı. Alınan bilgilere göre, ANKA yer kontrol istasyonuyla 20 saniye boyunca bağlantıyı kaybetti. Görev bilgisayarı da ‘kendini imha et’ komutu verdi. Bu komut üzerine de ANKA, burnu üzerine düşerek kendi kendini imha etti. İnsansız hava araçlarının (İHA) yer bağlantısı koptuğunda, araç düşmanın eline geçmesin diye ‘kendini imha et’ komutu veriliyor.

ANKA, test uçuşlarının ardından, 24 Eylül 2012 tarihi itibarıyla kabul test faaliyetlerine başladı. 3 gün sonra Genelkurmay Başkanlığı’ndan yetkililerin önünde bir uçuş gerçekleştirildi. Fakat beklenmedik bir olay yaşandı ve ANKA düştü. TUSAŞ’tan yapılan açıklamada, “Test uçuşu esnasında meydana gelen teknik bir sorun nedeniyle bir prototip hava aracı ile kırım yaşanmıştır. Arıza tespitine ilişkin çalışmalar devam etmekte olup kabul test faaliyetlerine diğer hava araçları ile devam edilecektir.” ifadelerine yer verildi. TUSAŞ, elindeki diğer prototiplerle test uçuşlarını sürdürüyor. Savunma kaynakları, “Eğer ANKA düşmeseydi, test kabul faaliyetlerinin devamı Batman’da gerçekleştirilecekti. ANKA hem test edilecek hem de terörle mücadelede etkin olarak kullanılmaya başlanacaktı. Bu kaza, süreci biraz erteletti. Fakat büyük bir sorun yok. Diğer ANKA’lar uçmaya devam ediyor.” bilgisini verdi.

İHA’ların ‘kendi kendini imha’ komutu vermesinin birçok örneği bulunuyor. ABD’nin dünyanın çeşitli operasyon bölgelerinde kullandığı binlerce İHA’da da zaman zaman benzer sorunlar yaşanıyor. Komuta merkeziyle iletişimi kaybeden araçlar kendini imha ediyor. Burada asıl amaç, kullanılan teknolojinin düşman unsurların eline geçmesini engellemek.

Öte yandan Başbakan Erdoğan ve Genelkurmay Başkanı Orgeneral Necdet Özel’in katıldığı son Savunma Sanayii İcra Komitesi (SSİK) toplantısından ANKA’nın geliştirilmesi ve daha kuvvetli bir motorla yenilenmesi kararı çıkmıştı. Bir sonraki ANKA, uydu üzerinden kontrol edilecek. Üzerinde taşıyacağı çeşitli sınıflardaki silahlarla, aynı görevde birden fazla hedefi etkisiz hale getirebilecek. Böylece Türkiye’nin İHA noktasında dışa bağımlılığının ortadan kalkacağı belirtiliyor. Başka ülkelerden satın alınan İHA’larla yapılan terörle mücadelenin, istenilen sonucu vermesinin mümkün olmadığı kaydediliyor.
