Turkish Air Defence Programs

MIM-104F missile is used against TBM while KM-SAM is used against air breathing engines. They are totally different class.

But of course ! ^^

Eurosatory 2016: South Korea's Hanwha reveals ballistic target system

Richard D Fisher Jr, Paris and Neil Gibson, London - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
14 June 2016

South Korean business group Hanwha revealed its Korea Ballistic Aerial Target System (K-BATS) for the first time at Eurosatory 2016 in Paris. Likely to be developed into a new multi-payload tactical ballistic missile (TBM), K-BATS is "almost ready for export," a Hanwha official told IHS Jane's , explaining that the group's intent in displaying the system at the international defence and security exhibition was to "demonstrate" that the Republic of Korea has the capability to make ballistic missiles.

K-BATS has a 0.6 m diameter, is 4 m long, and weighs 1.5 tonnes. While being coy about its use as the basis for a tactical ballistic missile, Hanwha officials insist that K-BATS was first developed as a target system for training: the missile designed to emulate the trajectory of various TBM.

Hanwha briefing materials say the system would offer a compatible target for Lockheed Martin's Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) interceptor or South Korea's KM-SAM (its Korean name is Cheongung and its developmental name is Cheolmae-2 ) that was developed by LIG Nex1.

Hanwha also advertises that K-BATS has a ballistic range of 180 km and offered images of the missile being fired from a twin missile launcher. While the twin missile launcher is "fixed", company officials said it could fitted onto a mobile platform.

K-BATS simulates ballistic missiles

David Donald, 16 June 2016

Hanwha Corporation (Hall 5, Stand K397) has brought its K-BATS ballistic aerial target system to Eurosatory for the first time. Launched from a canister, the vehicle replicates a ballistic missile and provides a target for operators of surface-to-air missile systems during trials.

With a range of 180km, the K-BATS vehicle is 4m long and has a body diameter of 0.6m.

It weighs around 1.5 tonnes. It has the ability to mimic several types of trajectory, and is guided throughout its flight by an inertial/GPS system. Telemetry equipment relays crucial data back to a control centre to warn if the target is veering off track, allowing correction updates, while an explosive command destruct function is incorporated in case an errant vehicle threatens lives or infrastructure.

K-BATS has been proven while acting as a target for Korean surface-to-air missile programmes. It can also be used to evaluate the performance of in-service systems such as the Patriot PAC-2 GEM/T and forthcoming PAC-3 systems.

This man making claims on capabilities of M-SAM which is developed by a different company. There is no official/unofficial statement by a South Korean army, state or firm which developed M-SAM, on M-SAM's capability of shooting TBM.

As long as I can't find such official info or a lot credible unofficial info, I can't change my mind. Let's agree to disagree.

Contrary to earlier reports, Kozhin also clarified that the issue of transfer-of-technology was not discussed between Turkey and Russia. Rather, the focus has been purely on the supply of the SAM system.

Check this out people:

Reports are coming out that Russia won't be supplying Turkey with the source code of the S-400. But of course this is understandable. No one should expect Russia to give a NATO country full access to the system that protects Russian skies from US/NATO attacks. Russia isn't providing source codes to India or China either.

Having said that, Turkey is mainly purchasing this system as a response to and against the US/West interference in Turkey (FETO coup attempt) and sphere of influence (PKK/PYD). I'm sure the S-400 will be quite fine at locking/firing on NATO targets, which would've been impossible using a Western alternative.

Looks like Turkey is set to ink the Eurosam deal today. Canikli is meeting with MoDs from France and Italy in Brussels. Then we'll enter a "feasibility study" period of 2 years, which is pretty long in my opinion... :( So probably we won't have a working European-based SAM for a good 5-6 years, hence why they're calling this "medium term".

On the other hand the S-400 is starting to look more and more like an "off the shelf" purchase with not nearly as much Turkish systems involvement as we hoped for.But despite that we're looking at first delivery in 2019. At least another 18 months without ballistic defense.

There will be no purchase of the S-400 system. It was only for the time of negotiation - with France & Italia - and for communication with the moronic crowd.

Rubbish. The S-400 deal has already been inked. Turkey has even paid a contractual advance to Russia for it. "NATO" isn't losing its mind over nothing.

Some people will never believe Turkey's S-400 purchase even after they positioned in coasts of Turkey and started monitoring Aegean Sea/Eastern Mediterranian Sea o_O

S400 deal is done, we already pay deposit.

^^

So Turkey today (or tomorrow) signed an agreement with France/Italy at NATO Headquarters for a co-development of an air defense system - which is part of its major security backbone - of NATO and will accept that Turkey buys another air defense system from a country that is at the origin of the creation of NATO itself and is the first enemy of NATO.

You are all so funny or totally st....
