Turkey is most valuable friend of Pakistan and showing reservations on Turkey is not a good idea…………Pakistan and Turkey have agreed for visa free traveling of their businessman to and fro………….Turkey has a free trade agreement with European Union, means there is absolutely no tax on goods from Turkey to European Union countries and vice versa……..once our goods reach Turkey, our products can tax free enter into the European markets…………..secondly, the distance between two countries via sea is approx. 40 days and by road 13 days……..our products can reach Europe with minimum of time and also with a tag of cheap price due to tax concession………..think what benefit we can get by this alone..........!!!!!!......and it’s Turkey who is offering us this opportunity to grab.

2. the said agreement between Turkey and EU also forbids Turkey from signing Free Trade Agreements with any country. on the other hand, Turkey is bound to have FTAs with all those countries which which EU has any FTA.

so there is no FTA between Pakistan and Turkey. IT may be just enhancing of trade or lowering taxes on some stuff.

Guys,

1. Turkey national interest is in being on europes and US's side. Most of its trade, and benefits come from there. It would be fantasy land to think that Turkey would ever side with Pakistan against the west.

2. The caliphate of Turkey was accepted by all Ulema ( except perhaps the shia ulema) as the rightful caliph. Mustaha Kemal destroyed the legitimate caliph, I am not sure how this becomes Islamic.

3. Turkish history is written entirely by Attuturkists, it is biased. I think any criticism of Attuturk is against Turkish law, I believe writers face prison if they write anything other than the official version.

Actually, the current and younger generation of turks is a lot more conscious of their relationship with pakistan---the conflicts in iraq, afghanistan and bosnia have have given us a food for thought---there will be a conscientious effort on part of the turks to keep aligned with pakistan under duress---once there is the formation of economic relationship between these two, lot of good things will come out.

Dear friend, I know all this…………in fact, I was replying to a particular post and as this thread was not about the trade relations between Pakistan and Turkey so I just summarized and didn’t go through the whole detail…………the essence of my previous post was………..Pakistan is the gateway of shortest distance to Europe via Iran and Turkey for many Asian countries and secondly our business relations can help Pakistan to reach European markets from there…….so, Turkey is a secular or hardcore doesn’t matter……..what we can and what Turkey can do for mutual interests is important………!!!!

Well Turkey is a independent nation so I don't think they will back stab us, modern turkey is more keep to develop its friendship with Pakistan based on trust and mutual understanding.

Turkey + Iran + Pakistan is a great economic trade zone.

China is special no one can replace china, but Turkish friendship is welcomed

I don't think Pakistan will go to war with Amerians/US. Its not happening
