If you really believe such direct confrontation with the west, e.g. U.S. and NATO, is such a good idea by arming Iran or other rogue states directly, you are either out of your mind or just simply stupid.
Such belligerent attitudes will give U.S., Japan and their allies perfect reasons to counter China with all the measures they can find. It will also give those China-wary small countries the best chance to jump on board, e.g. vietnam, philipines and etc. Of course, U.S., Japan and etc will sell all types of advanced weapons to taiwan and the worst they can do, they can even station their fleets in taiwan directly. Why don't you tell me what China can do in this case? For those 1T to 2T U.S. owes to China, well you can kiss that goodbye if such direct confrontation is immediate. As for Russia, it loves to see China to be in such trap and it would be glad to steal another chunk of lands from China if such confrontation happens.
About U.S. economy? Well, you really underestimate the resiliency the U.S. has in its economy. Many think U.S. is done. Well, at least in my life time, I won't see that happen yet. I do not see China has any significant strategic advantage over U.S. in at least 50 years.
Is that good for China's national interest??? What is in it for China to advocate for Iran??? As I have said, those are not Chinese and those are not out matters. We can voice our positions but we will not sacrifice ourselves for them at all. The first and foremost is to take care of China's own interest within her borders. China still does business with all types of countries. However, it is never in China interest to have such a direct confrontation role with the west by arming those rogue states at all.

The West is fueling China's economic expansion, by buying our products, and investing in our economy. Why would I have a problem with that? The US in particular, is one of the largest consumer markets on the planet.
But what can Israel give to us? No resources, no significant consumer market, etc. All they can give... is military technology, but they refuse to do it.
Iran and the Arab nations on the other hand, have enormous oil reserves. Which China desperately needs.
The Western nations are sanctioning Iran, it is a perfect time for China to come in and buy oil at discounted rates. The missile technology transfers, help to keep the Iranian regime friendly so this arrangement can continue. Who cares if the missiles are pointed at Israel?
