Sri Lanka is a independent country. Can do whatever it please, but there is no, "alliance".


It's also buying off shore patrol vessels from India -

Even India coast guard has bought boats from them.

As far as Turkey and India are concerned, I really dont get this topic. There's not much of a relation between the two, period. It's like saying India and Nicaragua are slowing down defense sales. Great.

You are scanning my post, highlighting it in bold but are still not reading it. I said they do NOT pose a thread to India but they still speaks which side Sri Lanka is aligning. Try reading again.

Its also a message for India that if you arm our neighbours (Afghanistan), you will end up getting it done to you. Afghanistan is a friendly neighbour with not so friendly government in it and this indian action is now countered.

They also have $2.4 Billion dollar trade with India - that aspect stays aside. Pakistan never posed conditions on Sri Lanka to do this for Pakistan or we would stop something = but India couldn't resist showing its smallness by threatening Sri Lanka and threatened to stop 400 millions of aid. ...... and India failed!

I dont agree with pressuring SrI Lanka to not get JF17s, it's not going to do anything to India. It's a reasonable platform considering it's budget.

Even bangladesh buys from china. It does not mean they are aligning or having an alliance.

Its ok to be elated and feel good for selling aircraft but dont come to wrong conclusions. If israel sells for cheap they would buy it from them.

Nothing surprising for for a country which claims to brought down soviet union.

For something like that even to happen, there need to be some type of relationship between two countries. Like India and Nicaragua, it's just not there. Compare India's relations with - Israel, Russia, USA for example. India and these countries are co-operating in several fields.

For something like that even to happen, there need to be some type of relationship between two countries. Like India and Nicaragua, it's just not there. Compare India's relations with - Israel, Russia, USA for example.

Sri Lanka is under no obligation to convince you for any of those two news. It is your personal level of rationality and ability to think being independent of your national stance. If you do not have that, may you have these someday soon.

Both Turkey and S. Korea are good partners to co-operate with in defence, but for India, Turkey is just unfeasible. S. Korea on the other hand is gaining a foot hold with recent K9 Thunder deal.

India went on selling it non-operational Tejas to Sri Lanka hoping they would not buy JF-17s. Then they went on threatening them for cancelling their lone if they went for JF-17s.

Sri Lanka is under no obligation to convince you for any of those two news. It is your personal level of rationality and ability to think being independent of your national stance. If you do not have that, may you have these someday soon.

If you are giving it for free , please provide fuel to run those systems and some amount to maintain them.
Bloody hell we get superior systems from US & Russia , turkey cant hold a candle to them.

Its not tissue papers or box of tooth brushes. These are defensive and offensive equipment with ability to destroy land, areal and sea-based targets. Besides Sri Lanka has fought decade long war against Indian Terrorists. Their purchase decision speaks what they feel like towrds India and towards Pakistan.

Pakistan Airforce will be providing training to Sri Lankan Pilots in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Our pilots will now access land and areas above sea which are on the back of India and which they could never access before. Happy time ahead.

But you do not have to admit any of these and are very welcome to deny your national frustrations.
