Trump seeks 'historic' increase of 9pc in defence spending

I was hoping for a bigger increase especially now we are confident that Mexicans will pay for it along with the border wall.

During the Cold War, the US was engaged in an arms race with the USSR. USSR could not sustained it due to structural problems in its economy. Now, the US is engaged in another arms race, this time, against itself. So long as US economy is able to sustain it; I think they will be fine.

Trump said he would be cutting from other budget items to maintain military edge -- from education, environment, social services, infrastructure. That I support, as well.

First, they have to cut the veterans' benefits completely. Those lazy bums with all their experiences should be at the front line and not idling around and spewing crap on the internet like gambit. Since the US education system is broken beyond repair, CNN, Fox and ther other alphabet broadcasters should become the prefered institutions of education for US citizens. If you are lazy, you should not have any rights to food, unemployment benefits and healthcare in the US. The benchmark should be 1 trillion USD for military spending. Full spectrum dominance, yeah!

This is YUUUUGE!

Despite this yuuuuuuuge increase Russia will pull down their pants in Europe in under 2 minutes........We've seen this reality in real time both in Georgia, south Ossetia, Abkhazia and Ukraine........:sarcastic:.........2 minutes mate.......if that.

Iran been busting em left right and center in the ME for last decade.

And they don't even have the balls to start shit with China, since they owe their existence to the Chinese......

The U.S. military is a joker outfit, along with its global toadys.

The US needs to restart F-22 production to counter Russia's upcoming PAK FA. Also more Zumwalt destroyers to counter Russia's upcoming Lider destroyers. Also restart AGM-129 to counter Russia's Kh-101 / 102 stealthy air launched cruise missiles.
To be honest, Russia or any other power for that matter is no match for the U.S militarily, technologically or even in terms of experience fighting wars around the globe.
All this talk is just fear mongering by the defence establishment wanting even more funds than they already have.
To put things in perspective, this simple increase is almost equivalent to the entire defence budget of Britain or Russia( Europe's biggest defence spenders and among the top 5 largest defence spenders in the world) .
Plus this is not even counting the huge money being spent by the U.S on black projects the world doesn't even know about. So go figure.
Only a fool will think Russia can threaten or defeat the U.S. Fearmongering.
We aren't even talking about U.S internal security/defence spending which is as high as the entire GDP of some big European powers. :hitwall:

We won the greatest war yet -- The Cold War.

The Soviet Union collapsed, a physical defeat.

China abandoned Marxism, an ideological defeat.

Two nuclear powers and they felled without US firing a single shot at them.

Sun Tzu said the best victory is the one without fighting. The old guy said nothing about spending money, did he ? :enjoy:

Lool You are right to some extent.
I just think that it is hilarious that any Pakistani could credibly criticize US military spending using medical research and education. We spend more money in medical research than Pakistan on her military, and Pakistan have an illiteracy rate of half her population. And these guys have the gall to criticize our budgeting ?

The advantage the U.S has is that it's both an economic superpower, a military superpower, a technological superpower, a scientific superpower, industrial superpower, a cultural/media superpower , human(highly skilled workforce)and even a natural resource superpower.etc etc you name it. People tend to forget this. They are a world leaders in almost every single field one can think of and they dictate the terms accordingly, coupled with their technological innovative edge that makes every other country to copy, learn or follow the trend they set. etc The U.S doesn't just rely on military power alone. That's what many people forget. They have a stranglehold on virtually every vital sector of the world's Financial and economic sectors/institutions,a huge market and technological hold on every critical/core tech out there. Reason why, when they sanction completely a country that country is in deep trouble and the said country can't thrive or prosper like they would have done without the sanctions. Since other countries will eventually follow due to the links their companies and industries have with the U.S(on which part of their technology, equipment, parts and huge market rely on)

Moreover, the US economy has grown so powerful mainly because it has been attracting the top talent from across the world(including people on here who claim to despise the U.S, yet their people crave for a U.S Visa, passport or residency due to obvious reasons. Lol ) in various fields by being an open, level playing and fair society. People around the globe have been going there looking for a better life and more opportunities and a better place to live and make their dreams come true. Comparatively people in the american society(even compared to Europe) used/tend to be less xenophobic. This was/is because Americans themselves in the beginning were foreigners to that geography(mostly British, Irish, and European settlers).
Anyways, attracting such top talent resulted in continuously improving productivity of the economy coupled with discovering new and better technologies. Also the economic system they have adopted (capitalism) constantly incentivised competition and progress. And last but not the least reason is that that America has managed to build a strong national identity with common values and culture in such a short span of time though they have arrived from different nationalities with different loyalties.:)

Plus, the U.S government warts and all, leaves the people of the nation a great deal of leeway to pursue private interests and ambitions. Compare the U.S. at its worst, with the late and unlamented Soviet Union at its best. :p: This has been a big advantage for the U.S as well , something many people overlook.

What amazes me is that although the people of the U.S. are often distracted by political and geopolitical situations, they are capable of concerted and coherent effort if the situation demands. They can still complete great Projects and make breakthroughs.
Considering all this, it's not surprising that even some European citizens from wealthy developed countries sometimes move to the U.S for more opportunities. :agree: Therein lies the strength and resilience of the U.S , something I haven't seen in any country I have been to around the world. :usflag:

Despite that Russia can still show you the middle finger like they did in Georgia, Syria, Ukraine.

China abandoned Marxism, an ideological defeat.
Can hardly be called a US victory when US still has to consider China as the biggest threat of US hegemony.

On second thought, if your country have a military and it seeks increase in its budget, instead of a moral high horse you can get on to criticize US, this is the kind of horse you are qualified for...

Keep in mind that if you get on it, we will be looking down at you.

War mongering bullshit , America is in wrong path, how many trillions in debt and now this? Unsustainable.

Somebody need rein in the military industry complex, people worse than Wall Street banisters only benefit themselves at the cost of society

"Total National Wealth, is the total sum value of monetary assets minus liabilities of a given nation. It refers to the total value of wealth possessed by the citizens of a nation at a set point in time. This figure is an important indicator of a nation's ability to take on debt and sustain spending"

Light Work. We are fine. Latent power.

Nothing more communist than food stamps, healthy adults sitting home collecting welfare

China has none of this bullcrap

Not to mention there are no jobs either. Most people now work at walmarts and starbucks for $10 per hr. All the U.S. has to offer the rest of the world now is hocus pocus financial engineering and junk weaponry. That's about it.

The funny thing is all those trillion dollar Tornado's, F-15s and M-1's and what not sold to the donkey asss Saudi's over the last 2 decades can't even defeat barefoot and starving Houthi's. Everybody is laughing

The massive project of these same donkeys called ISIS has been destroyed by Iran in SyRaq.

Putin busted up the Kiev regime pretty good too.

The U.S. sits on a $20 trillion sovereign debt. already the other powers are abandoning the USD. Without a reserve currency status, these guys will turn into a third world country overnight.

Of course it was a victory. China changed. We did not.

As for what China is today, so what if we consider China to be a threat ? Certainly not to US. Militarily speaking, not even the PLA's leadership believes China can win in a direct military confrontation.

Change is constant. Changing doesn't mean defeat. Only idiot Mullahs rules through the fear of Change. Changing or adopting according to time is more of a victory than a defeat.

Now coming to your second para....
Wars don't work like this. Not present day. An all out military conflict between USA & China will result in a mutual assured destruction. So, China is not in a position to win...but more importantly they won't be the ones to lose either.

Ill equipped China with starving Koreans forced you to a settlement in the Korean war. Is it not foolish of you to think that you can easily win against them?

China still continues to defy US hegemony in the South China sea. And US can't do anything. What kind of impression does it have on close US ally Japan, you think? What do you think Russia taking Crimea under US nose makes US looks like to it's western and NATO allies? Was any if this possible in the 90's?
