The advantage the U.S has is that it's both an economic superpower, a military superpower, a technological superpower, a scientific superpower, industrial superpower, a cultural/media superpower , human(highly skilled workforce)and even a natural resource superpower.etc etc you name it. People tend to forget this. They are a world leaders in almost every single field one can think of and they dictate the terms accordingly, coupled with their technological innovative edge that makes every other country to copy, learn or follow the trend they set. etc The U.S doesn't just rely on military power alone. That's what many people forget. They have a stranglehold on virtually every vital sector of the world's Financial and economic sectors/institutions,a huge market and technological hold on every critical/core tech out there. Reason why, when they sanction completely a country that country is in deep trouble and the said country can't thrive or prosper like they would have done without the sanctions. Since other countries will eventually follow due to the links their companies and industries have with the U.S(on which part of their technology, equipment, parts and huge market rely on)
Moreover, the US economy has grown so powerful mainly because it has been attracting the top talent from across the world(including people on here who claim to despise the U.S, yet their people crave for a U. Visa or residency due to obvious reasons. Lol ) in various fields by being an open, level playing and fair society. People around the globe have been going there looking for a better life and more opportunities and a better place to live a d make their dreams come true. Comparatively people in the american society(even compared to Europe), used,/tend to be less xenophobic. This was/is because Americans themselves were foreigners to that geography.
Anyways, attracting such top talent resulted in continuously improving productivity of the economy coupled with discovering new and better technologies. Also the economic system they have adopted (capitalism) constantly incentivised competition and progress. And last but not the least reason was that they have managed to build a strong national identity with common values and culture in such a short span of time though they have arrived from different nationalities with different loyalties.
Plus, the U.S government warts and all, leaves the people of the nation a great deal of leeway to pursue private interests and ambitions. Compare the U.S. at its worst, with the late and unlamented Soviet Union at its best.
This has been a big advantage for the U.S as well , something many people overlook.
What amazes me is that although the people of the U.S. are often distracted by political and geopolitical situations, they are capable of concerted and coherent effort if the situation demands. They can still complete great Projects and make breakthroughs.
Considering all this, it's not surprising that even some European citizens from wealthy developed countries sometimes move to the U.S for more opportunities.
Therein lies the strength and resilience of the U.S , something I haven't seen in any country I have been to around the world.
