Iran's top foreign policy official on Wednesday condemned tight travel restrictions on Iranian diplomats and their families living in Washington, claiming the curbs amounted to mistreatment.

Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, who arrived in New York on Sunday for a meeting on global goals to tackle issues including conflict, hunger, equality and climate change, complained that the limitations were unreasonable.

Washington had threatened to prevent Zarif from entering the US altogether, but finally allowed a visit that restricted his movements largely to the UN headquarters, the Iranian embassy and the residence of the UN ambassador.

I don't think he is a traitor, but he is naive and believes the west will change their mind about Iran. Same as the Shah who though the west would in the end accept Iran and Iranians as their equals. They will always think they are our superiors. Doesn't matter how we approach them

No some of them say Valerian wanted to negotiate peace, but Shapur kidnapped him, I know its bullshit but thats what some of them say. They always try to rewrite history. Did you know that Ibn Sina came up with the first law of motion almost 1000 years before Newton? And god knows what other things that they have taken credit for. Zarif is a diplomat, of course he's gonna say diplomacy is a good thing, and he's right.

Also, the JCPOA was a good idea. It only screwed up when pres trump withdrew from the treaty.

He is also very skilled in diplomacy. Ahmadinejad demonized Iran in the eyes of the west. Zarif fixed our image. Almost every EU and UN representative likes him. He is the only reason they are not siding with Trump.
