I feel I need to make clarify a few things. All humans of whatever colour, race, ethnic group are equal. This is and should be the very definition of civilization. Further, whatever religion, gender, sexual orientation or diability are also equal and should not be discriminated against. These are planks on which any civilized society should walk on.There is no if's or but's about this. I hope I make this clear to everybody. A shudra, dalit has equal right to me or anybody else. There is essential humanity in all of us because we are all the same. that is why we don't have differant doctors - we all bleed, shed tears and hurt.

Of course in heat of moment we all say things, maybe to get one over the other side, or to hit the other side where there is weakness or percieved weakness. I know South Asian vices so I might play on them to hearts content and will continue doing that but this beeded to be said.

And of course we can still be proud and who we are etc

20 Arrested In 48 Hours For Failing To Stand For Anthem In Cinemas

The Supreme Court has ordered that the anthem must be played before movies.

Around 20 people have been arrested after being accused of failing to stand for the national anthem in cinemas, two weeks after the Supreme Court made it compulsory.

The Supreme Court ruled on November 30 that cinemas should play the national anthem before every screening, and that the audience should stand, drawing angry accusations of an assault on civil liberties.


12 people were arrested on Monday at an international film festival in Kerala for failing to observe the order, the police said. They said the film-goers, who have not been identified, had refused to stand after being asked to do so by organisers and police. "They were formally arrested and later released on bail," said Sparjan Kumar, police chief of the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr Kumar said six of the 12 had been assaulted after refusing to stand, but that no charges would be brought against the attackers. "We are yet to receive a complaint over the assault. There is no investigation in (that) incident," he told news agency AFP. Mr Kumar said the 12 cinema-goers arrested in his state had been charged with various related offences, including contempt of court.


Before that, on Sunday, eight people were arrested at a cinema in Chennai after being assaulted by a group of 20 men during the interval for allegedly refusing to stand. They were reportedly charged under the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act and face up to three years in jail if found guilty.

The Supreme Court did not specify a penalty for failure to stand, or indicate who was to take charge of monitoring rule-breaking and assigning punishment.

Before the latest order, the playing of the national anthem was only compulsory in Maharashtra.

Government writes to States/UTs for necessary action on Supreme Court’s order regarding National Anthem of India

The Government has written to the Chief Secretaries of all State Governments and Chief Secretaries/Administrators of all Union Territories to comply with the Supreme Court’s order dated 30.11.2016 delivered in the Writ Petition (Civil) No.855/2016 relating to the National Anthem of India and take necessary action in this regard. The Supreme Court in the above said Order has directed as follows:


(a) There shall be no commercial exploitation to give financial advantage or any kind of benefit. To elaborate, the National Anthem should not be utilized by which the person involved with it either directly or indirectly shall have any commercial benefit or any other benefit.

(b) There shall not be dramatization of the National Anthem and it should not be included as a part of any variety show. It is because when the National Anthem is sung or played it is imperative on the part of every one present to show due respect and honour. To think of a dramatized exhibition of the National Anthem is absolutely inconceivable.

(c) National Anthem or a part of it shall not be printed on any object and also never be displayed in such a manner at such places which may be disgraceful to its status and tantamount to disrespect. It is because when the National Anthem is sung, the concept of protocol associated with it has its inherent roots in National identity, National integrity and Constitutional Patriotism.

(d) All the cinema halls in India shall play the National Anthem before the feature film starts and all present in the hall are obliged to stand up to show respect to the National Anthem.

(e) Prior to the National Anthem is played or sung in the cinema hall on the screen, the entry and exit doors shall remain closed so that no one can create any kind of disturbance which will amount to disrespect to the National Anthem. After the National Anthem is played or sung, the doors can be opened.

(f) When the National Anthem shall be played in Cinema Halls, it shall be with the National Flag on the screen.

(g) The abridge version of the National Anthem made by any one for whatever reason shall not be played or displayed.
