Shahzeb murder case: SC adjourns hearing; police to submit report
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the suo motu case over the murder of 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan to Jan 29 after Karachi police sought two weeks to submit a comprehensive report on the case, DawnNews reported.
A three-member bench of the apex court was hearing the suo motu notice taken by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry over Shahzeb’s murder.
During the hearing, DIG South Shahid Hayat told the court that Shahrukh Jatoi, the prime accused in the case, had surrendered himself to authorities in the Pakistani consulate in Dubai and that authorities were in contact with Dubai police.
Chief Justice Iftikhar inquired regarding the investigation into how Shahrukh had managed to leave the country.
DIG Hayat replied that a four-member investigation committee of the Federal Investigations Agency (FIA) was looking into the matter.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the police’s performance, the chief justice said no effective action had been taken, adding that the main accused and his father (Sikandar Jatoi) had turned themselves in before authorities.
The bench adjourned the case’s hearing until Jan 29 after Karachi police requested it a two-week-long period to submit a comprehensive report on the case.

DUBAI: Sharukh Jatoi a key suspect in the Shahzeb Khan murder case will be brought back to Pakistan in the early hours of Thursday.
Shahrukh will be brought back to the country via a private airline. According to the police he will be presented before the anti-terrorism court on Thursday.
Shahrukh had surrendered to officials at the Pakistani consulate on Monday. Prior to surrendering, in a video message Shahrukh said he would return to Pakistan and prove his innocence.
Other suspects in the case including Siraj Talpur have already been arrested. Shahrukh’s father Sikander Jatoi was arrested from outside the Supreme Court for allegedly helping his son flee the country.
Shahzeb Khan was killed on December 25 in the Defence area of Karachi.
According to witnesses, the suspects and Shahzeb had gotten into an argument following which he was gunned down.

KARACHI: The main accused in the 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, Shahrukh Jatoi, was shifted from Abu Dhabi to Karachi during the early hours of Thursday, DawnNews reported.
Senior Superintendent of Sindh Police (SSP) Niaz Ahmed Khoso said that he was designated with the task of arresting Shahrukh Jatoi and that he was unaware of any information concerning the arrest of former chief of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Tauqir Sadiq.
Shahrukh was brought to Karachi on-board a private airlines aircraft which landed on Terminal 1, which is usually used for Haj flights, instead of Jinnah Terminal.
The main accused was shifted to the Police Headquarters in Karachi’s Garden area via an armored personnel carrier (APC) of the police amid strict security arrangements.
Sharukh Jatoi had surrendered himself to authorities at the Pakistani consulate in Dubai who shifted him to Karachi as soon as go-ahead was received from the Interpol, according to police officials who added that Jatoi’s physical remand would be obtained from court.

KARACHI - Shahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in the Shahzeb Khan murder case, was identified by awitness during an identification parade on Saturday.
Shahrukh Jatoi was brought in the court of Judicial Magistrate Waqar Ahmed Soomrofor identification parade.
Two witnesses were present in the court and one of them identified Sharukh as the killer. The other witness is due to give his testimony to the court later.
The lawyer of Shahrukh Jatoi objected the proceeding, saying that picture of his client had gone viral on social media and internet that made it easy for anyone to recognise him as the killer, therefore the testimony of the witness was not important. The court recorded his statement.
Three other suspects of the case, who were earlier arrested, have already been identified by three witnesses.
Shahrukh Jatoi allegedly murdered Shahzeb Khan on December 25last year and fled to the UAE from where he was brought to the country by law officials.
