Textbook sparks row over mosque depicted as noise pollutant

FOLKS! Its about stereotyping... We all know what comes to minds of almost all indians when they show picture of an building with arched gate, multiple domes and lines showing sound. Its a Mosque doing Azaan! Anyone understands it! Lets do one thing.. lets do a facebook quiz by cropping that much out and ask folks on facebook, what do they associate it with!

I am not exactly a pro muslim person, but this is ridiculous! We are trying to defend here what is clearly a Stereotyping of a specific community here. I say this is horse manure!

Its not a question of technicallity, its symbolism and a stereotyping one!
Which is correct and healthy.

Every year we come across petitions to ban firecrackers on Diwali because it creates Noise and Air pollution.
Very few temples are allowed to have loudspeakers all the year round. One reason is they are owned by the Gormint.

They should not have loudspeakers either anyway. Its unnatural and kills the beauty of the raw human voice or music.

why not a temple and why only a mosque
Had it been a temple, you would not have posted a thread here. :D

But that's fine.

Those domes nowhere resemble to a temple as depicted in the picture.

Saffron coloured dome for you

This is saffron to you? :D
Welcome to the Colorblind club. :enjoy:

At least can we agree on one thing that Mosques create noise pollution?
I guess the problem is this - 'why target us? Target other religions at the SAME TIME'

1. In all! Durga pooja -- Jaagran for 9 days --, Ganesh pooja which goes for 5-6 days, Shiv Ratri, Diwali and when ever someone wants to do a Satyanarayan Katha.

2. Its not a question of a country for muslim, it is a question of sterotyping of a particular community in India.
Yes. Like I said. Stereotypes occur because its easy to associate.

Like German finesse in engineering. Italian in surrendering and switching sides. French in arts. And so on. And so on.

What you are saying is absolutely correct. But that was THE Reason why the country was broken into two pieces, right? Those who are fine with a week of Ganesh puja etc can stay. Those who can't should consider leaving. :)

It's not that complicated mate.

Azan is bit irritating...once in a while it is OK, but 5 times a day is not...When talking important issues on phone...these guys suddenly start and everything is gone under the noise.

Cannot they have their player without loud speaker? I am sure there were no load speakers when Mohammad formed the religion

Islam is 1st in religious noise pollution, then comes Pentecostal idiots. Then comes hindu temples.

I would have agreed with you if the kids were shown pictorial form of loudspeakers from temples ALONG with mosques. But that is not the case here.

You may find saffron colour domes on mosques but you don't find domes on temples. Make your conclusion:coffee:

EPIC Fail

Really, I guess you are ignorant on your own traditions.

Or may be you don't know the traditions in South India.

I live in Guruvayoor since 20+ years, during the special pooja's sometimes temple speakers air the chantings. As far as my Brahmin friends are concerned that's vedic stances.

Yeah, I thought you are smart. But you exposed yourself here as an MSP:lol:.
Adios!

LOL..... how does it matter if you live in Guruvayur ? Big LOL at your "brahmin friends"..... are they called Ahmed and joseph ?

Even the elephant Keshavan lived in Guruvayur, that did not make him a vedic scholar.

Narayaneeyam is chanted in Guruvayur.

Vedic chants are done only during Yagna / Havana, not in temple worship.

Why should I care about your trolls. North Indians like you always live in oblivion.
It's just one phone call away, the difference between this is, in North India it's more like Bhajans and other songs for the gods. While here it's more of strict procedures. And they follow Rigveda and it's mantras. In temples they chant manthras of Rig veda.
Even the elephant Keshavan lived in Guruvayur, that did not make him a vedic scholar.
Desperate, I don't claim to read your vedas. I was just talking about loud speakers. You were the one who dragged me to this.

Please, if you don't know don't argue. I don't need to be a Hindu to understand the some traditions. I've lived enough through this to trump your arguments:P. You know nothing about things here

Lastly, one more thing I forgot to add. Temple came first and the rituals Narayaneeyam came later.

Well than that is just criminal if they are exceeding the limits as entitled minority.
They are not an entitled minority. At least not in the way the "rich" Ahmadiyas are.

Of course I am entitled to my views. Speak about making a virtue out of a necessity. :cheesy:

Second, India and its Constitution is NOT secular.

Third, "secular" is NOT DEFINED in the constitution.

Let me know when you can quantify and measure "spirit" of the law.
Read the Preamble.

Same guys who say "osama is not in pakistan", "terrorism has no religion" or "Dawood is not in karachi"

Know anybody like that ?

Who says terrorism has no religion? Those RSS scums have shown that terrorism in india against minorities certainly has religion behind it.

LOL...... I am a Mallu you dumb Fcuk. I got married in Guruvayur temple.

Kerala Temple are Tantric temples and the poojari is a "tantri" and the pooja and Archana he does is from the Agama Shastra and not the Vedas

Fools like you are found plenty, who claim to understand hinduism when you cannot even understand the difference between different tantric rituals.

LOL...the EPIC FAIL is from your end.

Laksharchana is NOT a rig vedic "mantra" you moron ........ it means chanting the name of the temple deity or doing archana for 1 lakh times

Its clear that you are NOT a hindu, because only a non hindu will be this ignorant about something so fundamental to Hinduism.

Do you even know what archana's are done in the Guruvayur temple ? :azn: ..... can you name 3 of them ?

Read the Preamble.

Inserting the word "secular" during the EMERGENCY into the preamble of the constitution by the 42nd amendment does not magically make the constitutions secular

The original constitution preamble does not contain the word. But its directive principle is Cow protection :azn:

If all that continued, one day, people of India will consider religion as the root cause of all evil and disputes and will throw off the religion far away from their lives, just like Europe did. I think some guys are working hard on this agenda, the enemies of peaceful coexistence.

Why will that be a bad thing?
