One Delhi-based security expert said Sikh extremists were prime suspects in the police station siege.

“This is probably linked to the movement of the 1990s, these are the Khalistanis who have done this. The remnants of that movement are still being hosted and protected in Pakistan. If Army SF are on the scene there is little sense in bringing the NSG in. Given Gurdaspur's proximity to Kashmir (where there is a massive IA/SF/RR) presence it was always going to be a job for the PARA (SF)- this is pretty much their bread and butter in Kashmir.


Had this been (God forbid) Bangalore, Vizag, Goa etc the NSG would have been on the scene a long time ago.
