Greaves, Wheal help Scotland shock Bangladesh in Al Amerat

Bangladesh fail to seize advantage after reducing Scotland to 53 for 6 in the first innings

Scotland 140 for 9 (Graves 45, Munsey 29, Mahedi 3-19) beat Bangladesh 134 for 7 (Mushfiqur 38, Mahmudullah 23, Wheal 3-24) by six runs

Scotland shook the T20 World Cup on the opening day by beating the No. 6 ranked Bangladesh by six runs. The margin doesn't however reflect just how well Scotland played at the Al Amerat ground. The little-known Chris Greaves, playing only his second international match, rescued his side with a quickfire 45 after Scotland slipped to 53 for 6. Then with his quickish legspin, Greaves removed Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim just when Bangladesh had started to make a move towards the 141-run chase.

Greaves was calm under pressure with the bat, adding 51 runs for the seventh wicket with Mark Watt. He scrapped hard in the last five overs, which ultimately helped Scotland immensely in terms of giving them energy in the field, and then sucking the life out of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah, frustrated with their shock six-run defeat at the hands of Scotland, said that they failed to bat aggressively throughout the 141-run chase. However, he still believed that Bangladesh could turn around from this messy start, particularly if they reviewed where they went wrong.

"I am very much frustrated," Mahmudullah said. "Our batting is a concern. We have to bat better. We have to play aggressive cricket, regardless of the situation. We have a deep batting line-up, with Mohammad Saifuddin at No. 9. We may need to think over some changes tomorrow.

"We didn't deliberately bat slowly. We couldn't hit those boundaries. We have to bat better next time. A lot of things will come up since we lost the game. I think we didn't play well today, but we are a good T20 team. We have the capability. When we play our best cricket, we can win games."

Nice warm up game win for Pakistan today
Hafeez scored a brilliant "0"

Mean while the local T20 Championship the players who were part of winning team not in Pakistani National Team setup , this is typical Pakistan Selection process

So genius Pakistani Selectors hold this T20 National cup , and idea behind is to figure out which players are in complete form for World Cup , one team gets to final , with 3 strong players scoring consistently

Mr Iftikhar took 3 wickets for 5 runs and Smashed 45 runs !!! in Final Game, MVP performance in final for KPK

Yet

  • Shoaib Malik gets in playing no part in this T20 Tournament, 7 Run average in unsanctioned league overseas
  • Hafeez of course retains his spot, he is the "PROFESSOR"

Pakistan beat West Indies by seven wickets in first T20 warm-up match

Fakhar Zaman and Babar were impressive with the bat as they scored 46 and 50, respectively

DUBAI: Pakistan registered a victory over West Indies by seven wickets through an impressive team effort in their warm-up match for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam were impressive with the bat as they scored 46 and 50, respectively, while the Pakistani bowlers had also picked up timely wickets to restrict West Indies to 130.

West Indies had won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the first warm-up match between the two sides.

West Indies' Ravi Rampaul had sent Mohammad Rizwan packing early at 13, while Hayden Walsh had taken the wicket of Babar (50), and Mohammad Hafeez — who went for a duck.

Pakistani bowlers put up a strong showing against an aggressive West Indian side. The Windies never looked comfortable batting first, losing wickets at regular intervals and only managing to finish their inning at 130/7 from their 20 overs.

Hassan Ali remained the pick of the Pakistani bowlers, picking up two wickets (Fletcher and Pooran) while giving away only 21 runs from his four overs.

Right-arm pacer Haris Rauf gave away 32 runs from his four overs but managed to pick up the two prized wickets of Keiron Pollard and Chris Gayle while Shaheen Afridi managed to take two scalps as well but gave away an expensive 41 runs from his four overs.

Shaheen Afridi took the scalps of Shimron Hetmyer and Lendl Simmons.

Left-arm bowler Imad Wasim put in an impressive performance with the ball as well, giving away only six runs from his three overs at an economy rate of two runs per over. He also managed to take the scalp of Roston Chase.

India-Pakistan T20 World Cup clash 'should be reconsidered'

As the high-octane India vs Pakistan clash draws near, some voices from across the border want the match to be cancelled or "reconsidered".

India's Union Minister Giriraj Singh cited recent tensions in occupied Kashmir, saying that the match should be reconsidered as relations between the two countries are not good.

India's Punjab Minister Pargat Singh had said the same a few days earlier, saying that the match should be cancelled because the situation at the border is "not ideal".

"India vs Pakistan match in T20 World Cup shouldn’t be held because the situation at the border isn’t ideal and both the countries are currently going through a stressful period," he said.

He said it was of the utmost importance that "we have to guard humanity and not do anything that may end up putting further stress on the relationship between the two countries."

Earlier, Indian skipper Virat Kohli spoke about India's clashes against Pakistan, adding that he had "always approached this game as just another game of cricket".

Commenting on the expensive tickets, the Indian skipper had acknowledged the hype created for this particular match.

"There is a lot of hype created around this game more so with ticket sales and the demands of tickets and right now, the value of those tickets is ridiculously high," he had said, adding that it is all that he knows.

"My friends are asking me whether there are tickets left, right and centre, and me saying no. It’s probably the only change that I experience from any other game," he had said, in a reply to a question whether the India-Pakistan encounter is the top game for an Indian in a World Cup.

However, the star cricketer did not deny the fact that the overall buzz is different.

"Yes, the environment is different on the outside from the fans' perspective, it is definitely louder, definitely more excitement in the air," he said, adding that apart from that, from the players’ point of view, "we stay as professional as we can and always approach this game in the most normal way possible."

Hafiz went after the big shot on the 1st ball. Shows intent. He got caught...Happens.

What I want from Pakistan is the will to win. Give 110%. Fight for everything. Win or lose is then in God's hand but failure to try is a crime worth shooting them for

Where can I livestream cricket for free.

If Hafeez can keep the intent , ground level to 4's and driven 4's it would be ideal circumstance
the "1 knee" , slog shot 80% of time well in case of Pakistan 95% results in out

He has the technique to keep it grounded that is his strength as long as he does not goes for a "1 knee" slog shot

This "1 knee" hero shot causes most casualties in Pakistani Team

Kohli has become a liability in T20 format his batting isn't as aggressive as it used to be in last decade. And easily gets out when tries to score quickly.

ABU DHABI: Spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga claimed five wickets between them to help Sri Lanka dismiss debutants Namibia for 96 in round one of the Twenty20 World Cup on Monday.

Theekshana struck with his first ball and returned figures of 3-25 following Sri Lanka's decision to bowl in the second Group A encounter of the day in Abu Dhabi.

Theekshana, a mystery spinner, was ably supported by Hasaranga's leg spin.

Craig Williams with his 29, skipper Gerhard Erasmus, 20, and JJ Smit, unbeaten on 12, were the only three batsmen to manage double figures.

Pace bowler Lahiru Kumara struck twice and returned to wrap up the innings with a wicket and a run out from Pathum Nissanka as Namibia were bowled out in 19.3 overs.

Earlier in the day's first match, Ireland thrashed Netherlands by seven wickets.
