Strategy Page Pak ordered 17 WZ-10. also receive two WZ -10 year-end.

Hi,

Thanks for your detailed analysis on that.

So in Layman terms, youre saying that Z-10 will be the workhorse in gunship just llike f-16 is for he airfoece, if i am not mistaken.

Yes, I too believe that given rock solid relationship btw two countries we should aim to arm our army aviation with this gunship.

Please excuse me for my limited exposure to this particular subject (Gunships)

Also, could please shed some light on the difference btw pad landing and the one with landing gears. Tha davnatges and disadvantages for a person with limited knowledge like me.

Thanks
What is been talked about regarding the Chinese helis is that they are much more quieter then the other helis currently in Pakistan. One can only see if this is going to remain the same till the first AH-1z or UH-1Y comes.

In my view these Z-10 would not be bought in large numbers but in limited number just to counter the Indian Apache. For the role of daily combat patrolling would be done by AH-1's or some other Chinese Heli.

Pakistan Army wanted to get French Fennec has failed the test parameters. so they are going to ger some kind of replacement.

According to my limited understanding of helicopters, Wheels are usually placed on heavier helis to tow them into hangars and so that they can absorb some of the shock upon landing. Skids on the other hand are fixed to lighter aircraft as they are lighter and require next to no maintenance.

That's a very vague description of their living conditions but since we're just throwing a number, tentatively, I'd say a family would be able to support a kitchen for 6 to 10 people within 10,000 rupees.

Skids are actually used on those helis that have to land on heli pads on limited area which includes grass and bushes. there are some that have snow skids which are flatter at the base.

Normally helicopters with skid land on the runway but fly parallel to it at around 5-10 feet above till the time they have reached the parking area because the Airport procedure is such.Though there are airports with a runway that do allow helicopter to directly land at the parking bay that has been allotted.

Hi,

The factor of sanction plus hourly cost of operating machines tagged with export control and all, really put the user in quite difficulty. The amount of freedom you would have in Chinese machine will be an un parallel to any hi tech American machine we have had so far.

If its get the job done then it should be inducted without any delay, no doubt that there is no comparison of both machines, but one cokes wit extreme control ,the other with with freedom and sanction free supply of parts. The operational experience provided by PA would prove to be very beneficial for the machine that has lot of potential to improve.

.
Further add up that Skids require very less maintenance and offer zero technical errors. Landing gear on the other hand require continuous checking and maintenance and can be subjected to any technical error in case if the wheels fold in once it take off.
Skids offer more surface area while wheels provide better balance.
One with landing gear are easy to transport as they can taxi on run way to hanger or are easy to pull. One with skids require Landing Stands on which chopper is fixed, lifted up slightly and then moved on wheels attached to stand just like a walker for a child......... And yeah heavy choppers use landing gear always while light ones use both depending upon their nature and role.........
Landing gear life is calculated by calender days. this means the time it is on ground is also counted. (If it is with a shock absorber) Other wise Fixed landing gear does not require this.

Those advantages are there but the tactics and training and about 40 yrs of experience with US Attack Heli's is also a factor.

No denying that Chinese ones would be a very good choice and can be locally modified and manufactured but it would take time to learn all the tricks and tactics.

Hi,
Fair and valid points, but for the past decade there has been change in winds and for us to catch up with it, we will have to set sail now so that we can reach there tommorow, we will have to adjust to new set of operation and its requirement I am sure it won't be a problem for PA as we have doing it for the past 70 years now.

You seem to have good knowledge about army aviation, perhaps you can answer my few question regarding hell if that's OK with you. I'll be honoured with your knowledge

Hello,

How often is the engine for heli is changed? just a rough idea. I am not talking about any particular model

Maintenance task will have a time interval allocated based on the most appropriate parameter to maintain the condition of the item to which the task refers. The three types of frequency are: Flying hours, Flight cycles and Calendar time; sometimes there will be two limits with the operator normally having to comply with whichever limit comes first in their particular operation.

Turbine Engines
Turbine engine reliability is based on a Condition Monitored Maintenance Programme for both on-wing and off-wing tasks.

Piston Engines
Piston engines work on a manufacturer's ‘recommended' overhaul life.

For Bell AH-1F Engine overhaul is at 2400 hours.

How long can fly before it needs an overhaul ?

Don't forget we have Mi-35 coming as well... But this is really a positive move for our Army Corps.. Much needed.

.
There is no indication that Pakistan has ordered the Z-10s as of yet. Wait until official confirmation.

.
Im still unhappy why mi 35 not bought and mi 28 would been awsome induction

In recent years we hardly get any confirmation. Pakistan is getting way more secretive about defence procurements.

What about Mi-35 ordered from Russia ?

8 MI-35s have been confirmed already. There was news that 4 will be delivered next year. Its a unique machine and no alternatives.

Here are the three "received ones" :)

Though I don't know if it's a whim or what but their size seems a bit smaller comparing to what pics I have seen so far of WZ-10's...!
And one other question is that the ones received and the ones in order, are they coming with the newly built WZ-16(Ardiden 3c) engine, developed by China and Turbomeca...or the older and underpowered WZ-9...?
