he is the son of former Tamilnadu CM, Karunanidhi (MuKa - see picture below) and present president of the opposition Dravidian Party (DMK). Dravidian politics was inspired by Russian Marxism-Leninism Communism. Hence he was named after Stalin. Stalin, Lenin are common names to Tamil with Dravidian background.

Dravidian Political Ideology is separatism of Tamillnadu, as they feared living under Hindu/Hindi majoritianism will suppress Tamil identity /culture (e.g Hindi Imposition) and show economical favoritism to Hindi speaking states.

After the Indo-China war, the then CM of Tamilnadu compromised with Nehru to drop the succession demand. Nehru promised no Hindi imposition , autonomy etc.

Separatism from India is now vigorously pushed by various Tamil movements, so he is only expressing Tamils sentiments to stay relevant in Tamilnadu politics. Dravidian Politicians have lost their plot after compromising and selling out to Indian politicians e.g all Dravidian political parties have had political alliance with the national parties - Congress and BJP.
