The Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), anti-Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) coalition, is going to become active to contest in the upcoming general election against the PPP in every constituency in Sindh, sources privy to the development told The Express Tribune.
The decision was taken during a meeting of PPP rival parties and groups at Raja House, residence of Pir Pagara in Karachi, on Friday.
Ex-Sindh chief ministers Arbab Ghulam Rahim and Ghous Ali Shah, former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, Ayaz Latif Palijo of Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT), Ayaz Shah Sheerazi and Shafqat Shah Sheerazi of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and one of the PPP sitting provincial ministers also attended the meeting.
The meeting has decided that Pir Pagara would head the alliance and Ayaz Latif Palijo will be its spokesperson.
Sindh Assembly passes resolution against load-shedding menace
“Zulfiqar Mirza floated the idea to register the alliance in the Election Commission of Pakistan and it was endorsed by all the participants,” a PML-F leader said, adding, “It will prove to be a strong alternate of PPP.”
Talking to The Express Tribune Palijo said they will launch a campaign against the PPP-led Sindh government and approach all civil society organisations, writers, poets and intellectual for seeking their support.
A meeting, he also said, will also be convened in a few days to finalise the manifesto, flag and other necessary things relegated to the election.
PTI has failed in K-P: Zardari
The meeting also decided to bring a ‘White Paper’ against the PPP government and accused it of committing massive corruption and bad governance in the last nine-year tenure in Sindh.
A committee comprising PML-F MPA Sheharyar Mahar, Sardar Rahim, Kishan Chand Parwani and Makhdoom Fazal was formed to finalise the draft of the ‘white paper’ with the consultation of others.
Arbab Rahim while referring to Pir Pagara said they would not let the PPP to loot and plunder the people of Sindh. “We also discussed how to ensure transparent elections. The army’s help will be sought for holding fair and free polls in 2018.”
Ghous Ali Shah was of the view that dilapidated condition of infrastructure is evident how the PPP has ruined Sindh. “The federal government is responsible for hours-long load-shedding, but the PPP is silent spectator and works as friendly opposition.”
Sheerazi brothers of Thatta presented their case of political victimisation and assured that they will be in forefront in this alliance to get rid of PPP in Sindh.
