The mob was trying to attack the Muslim man after he was caught with a Hindu woman. (Photo credits: TheLallantop.com)
A Sikh cop posted in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand restored faith in humanity after he saved a Muslim man from a mob attack.
The incident took place at Girija Temple, a famous temple situated around 14-15 km away from the main town. Even though the temple is built in the middle of a forest and is little isolated, many people visit the place quite often. Couples, mostly, visit this temple for isolation.
According to Lallantop.com, a couple decided to meet at the temple on May 22, 2018, but it turned out to be disastrous for them after a mob realised that both of them belonged to different religions.

While the mob surrounded the Muslim man, police presence in the vicinity tried dispersing them to avoid any mishap.
The entire incident was recorded on video and even went viral on social media.
In the video, it was seen that the mob started heckling the Muslim man and even slapped him. But, before anything serious could happen, Sub-inspector Gagandeep Singh hugged the Muslim man tightly to save him from being attacked. The mob was heard asking for the ID of the Muslim man during the video as well. The mob was seen criticising Gagandeep Singh for saving the man.
"Pyaar aa raha hai bohot aapko, kis baat ka pyaar kar rahe ho?", said a man belonging to the mob.
Soon after the mob realised that Gagandeep Singh won't let the mob attack the man, the mob started yelling "Police prashasan murdabad".
Speaking to Lallantop.com, in-charge of Ramnagar police station Vikram Rathore confirmed the instance. He said the crowd also comprised members of Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). "On receiving information about the matter, we rushed a team to the spot. By the time our team reached, the crowd had started manhandling the youth and his friend."
He informed that people from the nearby area often visit the temple. "People in the crowd alleged that the couple was seen in a compromising position," the officer said.
Asked about what exactly is a compromising position, he did not answer.
Compromising or not, moral policing has gone out of hands many times in the past as well and has even resulted in death in extreme cases. Incidents like these, raise questions whether there is a value of human life or not.
