The government's decision to grant Indian citizenship to Adnan Sami has angered Shiv Sena, an old ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The government's decision to grant Indian citizenship to Adnan Sami has angered Shiv Sena, an old ally of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande questioned the government's decision to make Sami an Indian citizen.

"BJP had previously opposed giving citizenship to Adnan Sami. Now their government is in power and they have given citizenship to him. Why Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is deported, I don't know the reason. On one side we are granting citizenship to Adnan Sami and on the other we are deporting Rahat Fateh Ali, people are watching this," Kayande said.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was barred entry and asked to return back to Abu Dhabi moments after he landed at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Thursday. Immigration officials said that for all Pakistani nationals, the port of entry is Delhi or Mumbai. No Pakistani can enter the country from Hyderabad.

Shiv Sena has made it clear, on a number of occasions, that it is against any relationship with Pakistan till the neighbouring nation dismantles terror factories operating on its soil.

Sena, a junior partner of the BJP both in Maharashtra as well as the Centre, has been protesting against the participation of Pakistani citizens in Indian events.

In October last year, Shiv Sena's protest forced organisers to cancel Pakistani singer Ghulam Ali's concert in Mumbai and Pune.

Its workers had also blackened the face of columnist and former BJP ideologue Sudheendra Kulkarni for organising the launch of a book by former Pakistan minister Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, leading to a massive national outrage.

The clout of Bal Thackeray was the biggest attraction to Shiv Sena. Post his sad demise, the new leader and the whole party is just wasting their support base. They are a right wing hindu party but religious issues and extreme views for pakistan is not always endorsable. In fact they have issues with every state of India as they feel Mumbai is just for Marathis

A famous story is there..

Mr Thackeray and Mr Dilip Kumar (yes the most famous actor of yesteryear) were very good friend. Every day evening they use to meet and have 2 pegs of 45 ml drink together with Ice and water. Such was their friendship that the whole power people in Mumbai and Delhi were envious that an actor gets to drink with Bal Thackeray and yet ministers are not allowed to meet him unless he calls them to meet. Yet one day when there was a confirmed news that Pakistan wants to give an award to Dilip Kumar, Mr Bal Thackeray called Dilip Kumar and said " Don go to Pakistan for a award... This country has made you a star. IF you go, never ever come to drink with me ever again". Dilip Kumar went and received the award and Bal Thackeray never after talked ever with Dilip Kumar or allowed any phone call or drinks.

The fascination of anti Pakistan feelings is too strong for them. But world has changed yet ideology of Shiv Sena remains the same.
Sad that a good regional party with potential just fell apart due to having a ideology not matching the changing times.

The good old shiv sena going bizarre again on petty issues.
I wonder how a political party like shiv sena has thrived in city like Mumbai.

Do they raise any other issues? I mean apart from opposing policies toward Pakistan???
They do sir.. Mumbai for only localities.. And also they criticise BJP CM work.
In fact they criticise NaMo a lot..

They do actually. Pakistan is not the be-all & end-all for SS. You have UP/Biharis, Gujratis, South Indians..etc etc. Basically they have issues with anything & everything which is not Marathi. & raise each one of them as per their convenience.
