‘Settlement of Kashmir issue must for strong Indo-Pak ties’

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said the resolution of Kashmir issue is inevitable for strong, durable and peaceful relations between Pakistan and India.

In his message on the Kashmir Solidarity Day, the PML-N Quaid said the struggle by the international community for world peace would be of no use until the Kashmir issue is resolved. “Both Pakistan and India are atomic powers and peace in South Asia is linked with the attitude of the leaderships of both the countries,” he said.

Nawaz said Kashmir is not just a dispute of land rather it relates to the provision of the rights of millions of innocent people and no law of land can resolve the issue without respecting the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

He urged the international community to play their effective role for devising a comprehensive strategy to ensure the implementation of the UN resolutions on the Kashmir issue. AJK President Raja Zulqarnain Khan and Prime Minister Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan said the Kashmiri people have been struggling to get freedom from foreign occupation for the last two centuries.

They said the Kashmiri people have rendered unprecedented sacrifices against the illegal Indian occupation on their soil for the last 61 years following the footprints of their ancestors.Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza has said the peaceful settlement of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the aspiration of the Kashmiri people was imperative for regional peace.

In her message on the Kashmir Solidarity Day, she said Pakistan would extend its unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their unalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in the UN Charter and relevant UN resolutions. Also, Chairman NA Kashmir Committee Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said Pakistan desires to resolve the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
