What I meant was that for upcoming few months we will appropriate most of Sputnik, COVAXIN and ZycoVID stocks. For AZ we have commitments to other countries so we can't do much but make available stocks for other countries as soon as production increases. The others, we will probably block them for mostly domestic use.

BD does not need or want Sputnik from India as it will get supplies directly from Russia on an emergency basis and build its own production facility from Russian licence and technical assistance.

AstraZeneca from India by end May/early June again, Sputnik produced locally at home and hopefully homemade vaccine in the latter half of this year and BD is all good.

But the reality is we don't test that much.

However now Indian border should be shut down completely, as we need protection against Indian new variants.

But govt isn't shutting it down . I know they will shut the border when it's too late. Same like last year.

And then will again put useless lock down so that people remain hungry.

However maybe we are in better situation than India, but not such better that govt pretend and impose lockdown ( actually hefajat down, look online news links ,people are trolling), and after arrest of Mamunul ,the drama ended.

Compared to India, BD is handling Covid-19 much better and also very favourably with Pakistan and in fact doing slightly better right now.

You cannot expect much better from a country like BD.

BD has brought down its daily case numbers from 7000 two weeks ago to just over 3000 now. Yes a lot of infected people are not being picked up but what counts is the trend and the virus is receding in BD right now.


As for shutting Indian border, how do you expect all those critical goods to come in? BD just cannot shut down the huge volume of trade it has with India just like that.

It was not all bad as this was the only way to get the AstraZeneca vaccine and it is not known whether BD companies were ready to be able to produce this vaccine on time.

This is the key point - India is one of the few licensed to manufacture AZ vaccine. It wasn't like we had a choice where to buy it from. The order of AZ was the logical choice at the time.

India has let not only BD but all of its supply partners down. Angela Merkel herself is complaining.

Why is everyone surprised ? there would have been a shortage of Vaccines with or without the current crisis in India not so hard to predict(many countries would be opening up and trying to get their economies back on their feet). Should have taken the offer in 2020 to get SinoVac as well as getting Astra Zeneca. Absolute incompetence.

You know what I was one of those people who were most tolerant and forgiving to BAL despite their Indian dalai, until it cost human lives.

More people will be fed up to this govt from now. If people like me hate BNP for destroying the electricity system ,why shouldn't we hate BAL for such filthy decision that is causing us suffering and costing lives? Having no electricity is better than having no livelihood. In those so called tughloki lockdown many poor lost their everything, remain hungry; if we signed for other vaccines, I don't think situation was worse like this.

We afterall paid in advance in the entire process, so shouldn't we get the honor as equal partner?
