Okay, I need some more suggestions for sci fi movies. It seems I've exhausted the top lists I can find. :(

Just share your favourites. 8-)

Also, let this thread be a platform for us to bask in each others' nerdiness, general sci fi related discussions.. like the new star wars film @Armstrong.

edit: I forgot to mention, scifi related wallpapers would be welcomed if you have any. I got some high res ones I'll share.

Not bad at all^

If you really want some sci fi gold, you gotta go old. The oldies, if you don't mind the fact that they're from the 60's or 70's, in my opinion are the best.

All the Star Wars movies and animated films ! :kiss3:

Some Star Trek !

The Dune series; funnily enough @Jungibaaz they borrow a lot of Islamic symbolism such as the Promised one being called the 'Mahadi' a corruption of the Mehdi, his mother being called the Syedeena a corruption of Syedna and the Holy Warriors called as the 'Fadaiken' a corruption of the fedayeen etc. :o:

Just google it; its fun to see that symbolism and even the author/creators admit it ! :)

I am earthling, so only know English. So, Live Long and Prosper. \/

You dont find the biggest sci fi fan then me. The list is much longer, but still these are best movies.

Primer (be prepared to rewatch it)
Dark City
Fish Story (Japanese, subtitles available in english)
Galaxy Quest (only if you've seen a fair bit of Star Trek)
RoboCop (very violent)
Frequency (2000)
Robot and Frank (a sort of caper movie)
The Jacket (a trippy kind of sort of time travel movie)
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Dredd (violent, but very good - NOT "Judge Dredd" which was dreadful)

Metropolis is very interesting as it is the first appearance for a lot of SciFi tropes. (androids, particularly)
Also, very interesting to see the Twight Zone episode "Demon with a Glass Hand" (compare to Terminator)

yes, sir... the islami symbolicism is throughout dune... and it is perhaps one of the best works of all time... and the "emperor of the known universe" ( before the mahdi ) is "shaddam".

it has a socialistic theme too.
