Sci fi fans, get in here.

pitch black
chronicles of riddick
28 weeks later

these below others have already mentioned...

dune ( film ) - watch for the the art work, the weapons... beautiful.
children of dune - tv series, i have seen bits and pieces
gattaca
sunshine
bladerunner
moon ( even though i have not seen it )
europa report ( even though i have not seen )
12 monkeys
metropolis
a clockwork orange

i quite liked "war of the worlds".

it has a socialistic theme too.

Gattaca is another I forgot to mention, brilliant film.

And about Moon. Definitely watch it. Probably my second favourite scifi in the last 10 years, after Interstellar, and followed by Sunshine.

Also, I'm a sucker for good cinematography, soundtrack and directing. Which is why 2001 is the top of my list, and why I liked interstellar so much.

doomsday
children of men ( set in very near-future )
the fountain ( not entirely science fiction )

And about Moon. Definitely watch it. Probably my second favourite scifi in the last 10 years, after Interstellar, and followed by Sunshine.

sunshine had such natural acting, and the imagery was beautiful, though the fighting at the end was confusing.

one superb scene was the captain caught in the solar storm.

beautiful piece... it definitely had a role in bringing moon to notice of people at a time when that silly film "avatar" was everywhere.

and after your vid ends, the playlist will show you another superb musical work of clint mansell... from the film "the fountain" is the piece "death is the road to awe"...

i have this piece on my machine.

and i have bookmarked this post of yours with the space films compilation set to narration of "do not gentle into the good night"... ( Do not go gentle into that good night... )... thank you for this find.

interstellar was really a journey... even though i don't believe in the time-modification part, i was pulled into the film.

Right, so like I said, wallpapers would be nice too.

Of these I've only seen Children of Men, I really liked it too. I will give the others a try, I'm making a to do list with members suggestions from this thread right now.

Sunshine was very underrated in my opinion, ending could've been better. But 2 scenes I particularly loved, the first was where Searle was observing the brightness of the sun, putting the filter to the lowest possible safe number. And later, in the same room where they saw Mercury. And by far the best scene was the death of Kanada, with Searle repeating the words: 'what do you see?'.

You're right, that was a beautiful scene. The music made it even more intense.

Thanks for this one, I've heard it and love it.

My pleasure. I've been obsessed with that video, bookmarked it myself. Shared it on every bit of social media I have including PDF.

Might even post it here, for the rest of PDF's sci fi fans.

I liked it, I thought it lived up to the hype people made about it. And if you're a 2001 fan, you can see the many 2001 references and influences on the film.

Star Trek : Deep space Nine is really good , not like other trekkie shows ... deals in a lot of good story, difficult decisions and shows the "good guys" whos morality is in a grey area ...

Right, so like I said, wallpapers would be nice too.

Fountain is more philosophical movie, if you want to watch a much intense philosophical movie then I suggest you After the Dark or The Mist, definitely highly underrated movie in IMDB, it tells how the human, religion, society behave during a apocalypse .

On other note Contact is pure sci fi with pinch of salt of philosophy, how the humans behave when they find out they are not alone in the Universe? Right @jamahir

But still my fav. remain

Dont know but I love Tom Hanks

forgot this - "race to mars", a discovery-canada two-part fiction series on human travel to mars... full series on youtube... it is very good, quite like a long film.

part 1 -

part 2 -

kaneda was seeing something that would not be seen by any other human, and searle would have no other chance... :)

searle's obsession with the sun is so understandable and natural, i myself once saw a solar eclipse without the protective card, i got a headache and was dim-sighted for many minutes but i did see the eclipsed sun. :D

the mercury sighting seen was... it raised goose pimples...

what about these as wall papers, big enough to be printed...

@Jungibaaz: Dont know but I was unable to connect the Interstellar with like mind boggling movie, maybe my expectation was high. There was nothing on Interstellar travel, but Cristopher Nolan main focus was time paradox.

And on time paradox, there are much more beautiful movies. Dont know but I was unable to connect Interstellar with reality.

It took 2 yrs to reach Saturn, but after crossing the worm hole, the inter-travel between planets come down to days, any sense?

I get that, a lot of people said that. People either loved interstellar or just didn't get it.

I personally loved it, but you're right, there were many holes in the plot, a lot of 'Hollywood science' and continuity used. And yes the time paradox was the key feature of the film, Nolan described time itself as the only antagonist in this film.

Who knows maybe what I think of it might change in a year. New releases tend to invoke stronger opinions among critics and audience.

I loved that film, I remember when I was in the cinema, sometime in 2007, and I saw the trailer for sunshine, thought it looked amazing and made it my mission to watch it, some people didn't seem to think much of it, but I thought it was stunning, I have it recorded in glorious 1080p. 8-)

Fountain is more philosophical movie,

true... and i liked the part where the spanish conquistador hugh jackman confronts the many native american warriors, plus the american priest dressed strangely but wonderfully...

if you want to watch a much intense philosophical movie then I suggest you After the Dark

On other note Contact is pure sci fi with pinch of salt of philosophy, how the humans behave when they find out they are not alone in the Universe? Right @jamahir

Nah more into fantasy fiction
came across this one last week
this one is a very easy read even if you are not into sci-fi
great drama and plenty of wit

such a beautiful movie, the soundtrack is so good too !

yes, the sounds meld so naturally with the imagery.
in fact, most of Aronofsky's works are killer
