JERUSALEM, (Reuters) - Israeli officials said on Friday they were concerned the country may be under cyber attack after a wave of credit card code thefts in the past week by a hacker who claims to be operating out of Saudi Arabia.

Credit card company officials said 14,000 numbers had been posted on line on Tuesday and another 11,000 on Thursday. However, they said some of the codes had expired and that the active cards were all being cancelled.

The hacker has identified himself as OxOmar and says he is part of a Saudi Arabian hacker team. In a post on Thursday he said he had leaked information about more than 400,000 Israelis and said the "Jewish lobby" was hiding the scale of the attack.

Israeli officials say the hacker has also released email addresses and passwords, but have yet to confirm where he is based.

"This incident should be treated as a cyber attack," Justice Ministry official Yoram Hacohen told the Ma'ariv daily.

"When it comes to digital felonies committed outside the country, it is difficult to locate the perpetrator if he took the correct precautions," Hacohen added.

The data theft was one of the worst that Israel has said it has faced, and while the financial damage was reportedly minimal, the breaches have heightened concerns about the potential use of stolen information by Israel's enemies.

"These matters are worrisome," Science and Technology Minister Daniel Hershkowitz told Israel Radio, calling the incident "a sample of the great danger out in cyberspace."

He added that Israel had "impressive capabilities" and was setting up an agency to deal with the issue, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged last year.

On the back of the credit card theft, a parliamentary committee has scheduled a session for the coming week to review Israel's readiness to defend itself from cyber attacks.

"We must prepare to cope with cyber threats in anticipation of any attempts to use Internet terror to strike at Israel," said lawmaker Ronit Tirosh, the committee chairwoman.

Some newspaper columnists speculated that hackers might be retaliating for recent attacks in Iran, including the mysterious Stuxnet computer virus that snarled its controversial nuclear computer systems.

"The peculiar incident we are facing could be a bad joke, a youthful prank, a hate-driven terror attack for beginners or the first stage in an Iranian cyber-terror attack," commentator Ben Caspit wrote in Friday's edition of Ma'ariv.

However, Hershkowitz dismissed such speculation, saying: "the imagination tends to soar."

The hacker wrote in his Web post: "So, I've started thinking of sending all Israeli credit cards I own which reaches 1M data."

"Enjoy it world! Purchase stuff for yourself online, buy anything you want," he added.

Dov Kotler, CEO of Isracard, a unit of Bank Hapoalim , said 5,200 credit card numbers listed by the hacker on Thursday, belonged to his customers.

The thefts have dampened Internet sales in Israel, media reports said, though no figures were immediately available. Israeli reports have indicated that most of the information stolen had been gleaned from online commercial sites.

And im not being sarcastic, i was just wondering.

.
Nothing can be bought with these cards because they are automatically blocked and the charges cancelled.
This person has a death wish.

.
"Buy and enjoy these things for yourselves" Yeah, like the gov't isn't going to trace the purchases directly to your home after you order...

(Reuters) - Israel said on Saturday the online publication of thousands of its citizens' credit card details by a hacker who says he is based in Saudi Arabia was comparable to terrorism, and promised to hit back.

The data theft, which appeared to focus on commercial websites, was one of the worst Israel has said it has faced.

While government officials and credit card companies said the financial damage was minimal, the breaches were welcomed by the Palestinian militant group Hamas and have heightened concerns about the potential use of stolen information by the Jewish state's foes.

Such cyber-attacks are "a breach of sovereignty comparable to a terrorist operation, and must be treated as such," Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said in a speech, adding that Israel had not yet ruled out the possibility that the hacking had been carried out by a group "more organized and sophisticated ... than a lone youth."

"Israel has active capabilities for striking at those who are trying to harm it, and no agency or hacker will be immune from retaliatory action," he said, without elaborating.

The hacker, identifying himself as Saudi-based OxOmar, said on Thursday he had leaked private information about more than 400,000 Israelis. Credit card companies said around 25,000 numbers, some of them expired, had been posted as of Friday.

After Israeli media ran what they described as interviews conducted with OxOmar over email, the Haaretz newspaper said a blogger had tracked the hacker down and determined he was a 19-year-old citizen of the United Arab Emirates studying and working in Mexico.

An aide to Ayalon, Lital Shochat, said Israel was aware of the report but had not yet requested help from Mexican authorities.

Hamas, an Islamist group that sees itself as locked in holy war with Israel but has hinted it could curb armed attacks as part of reconciliation talks with more moderate Palestinian rivals, described OxOmar's actions as "a new form of resistance.

"We urge Arab youth to ignore these cowardly Israeli threats and to use all means available in the virtual space to confront Israeli crimes," Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in Gaza.

Most or All of the numbers may be blocked by now..but the real problem is the details of cards which are hacked but not revealed in public.

January 12, 2012

The Saudi hacker who posted details of thousands of Israeli credit cards online, said overnight he had exposed 200 more and threatened to continue exposing the same number every day.

In a message on Pastebin.com, the hacker who calls himself 0xOmar, posted two links including what he said were "200 fresh working Israeli cards" a day after an Israeli hacker exposed than 200 details of what he claimed were Saudi-owned credit cards.

It was not possible independently to verify whether any of the cards were valid, and there was no immediate confirmation or reaction from Israel's main credit card companies.

The tit-for-tat hacking attacks began on January 3 when 0xOmar, who said he was from a Saudi-based hacking outfit called group-xp, said he had posted details of 400,000 cards online.

Three days later, he said he had published another 11,000 card details but it turned out to be malware that infected anyone who downloaded the information.

Israel's main credit card companies said about 20,000 valid cards had been affected.

On Wednesday, an Israeli hacker who identified himself as "0xOmer" launched a counter-attack and posted the names, email addresses, phone numbers and numbers of 217 cards, of which more than 160 appeared to have expiry dates that were still valid.

In the latest posting, the Saudi hacker urged all Arab and Muslim hackers to join in a campaign targeting the Israeli military and intelligence services, as well as to continue targeting Israeli consumers.

"I invite Arab-Muslim Hackers to unite against Israel and join this war. I also invite great Turkish hackers which hack a lot of websites daily," he wrote.

"I shout to Israeli authorities and people, you are not safe from me and Muslim hackers. We'll fight all of our lives against Israel, we'll harm you in any way we can," it said.

Saudi hacker strikes again
OxOmar has published details of 200 more Israeli credit cards.
12 January 12 09:08, Roy Goldenberg

The Saudi Arabian hacker who calls himself OxOmar last night published a list of 200 more Israeli credit cards. This is part of his ongoing hacking into Israeli sites and in response to counter-attacks by Israeli hackers.

Last week the Saudi hacker claimed to have details of 1 million Israeli credit cards although Israeli credit card companies insisted that he had only published details of 15,000 credit cards.

Israel Credit Cards-Cal Ltd. (ICC-Cal) (Visa) spokesperson Sagit Ophir said, "On the file published this evening there were details of 50 credit cards belonging to our customers. The cards were immediately blocked for telephone or online purchases."

At the start of his latest announcement OxOmar wrote, "Russian intelligence shut down my e-mail address at mail.ru.” He added that he is now using the gaza.net email service. “I saw that a few stupid people said they found me: one in Mexico, one in Riyadh, one in Dubai. Let me tell you: Nobody can find me. Mossad, do not waste your time.”

OxOmar continued that he is using an encryption that makes it difficult to locate him. He said, "If you look for me I'm sure you'll reach Helsinki, Minsk, New York, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Tokyo, Moscow and other places."

OxOmar also referred to Palestinian hackers who had succeeded in breaking into the homepage of Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon and placed a picture of a shoe on his face. He said, "We invite all hackers from the Muslim world to unite regardless of what you are thinking. I invite all Muslims to unite against Israel , the major enemy of Muslims.

OxOmar also mocked Israeli hackers who published details of 200 credit cards of Saudis. He claimed the cards had expired and anyway CVV codes were not published.

Anonymous targets Israel as it joins war between hackers
Post shows how to hack into water facilities and even nuclear power plants

Anonymous has posted what appear to be login details for Israeli SCADA industrial-control systems, a cyber attack that marks the politically minded group's entrance into the heated battle between Israeli and Saudi Arabian hackers that has already exposed thousands of credit card numbers and personal details.

A new Twitter account, @FuryOfAnon, posted a message Wednesday that said, "Who wanna have some fun with israeli scada systems." Included in the taunt was a Pastebin link showing what purport to be 10 IP addresses and logins for Israeli supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.

Industrial-control facilities, including nuclear power and water treatment plants, use SCADA software to control and automate machinery. The infamous Stuxnet worm hijacked the SCADA system at an Iranian nuclear-fuel processing plant in July 2010. Since then, the governments of many nations have been on the lookout for signs of future attacks.

FuryOfAnon's leak comes one day after an Israeli hacker calling himself Omer Cohen, (hacker name "0xOmer"), posted the names, credit card numbers, phone numbers and email addresses of more than 400 Saudi Arabians. This attack was a retaliatory strike against a Saudi hacker, "0xOmar," who on Jan. 3 stole and posted the credit card numbers, names, addresses, phone numbers and government ID numbers of roughly 15,000 Israelis.

Anonymous had stayed out of this tit-for-tat hacker spat; the group's endorsement of 0xOmar's campaign (and that of his Saudi hacking collective known as Group-XP), places powerful allies in 0xOmar's corner. Anonymous' support was announced by Sabu, an outspoken member who in the past has been decidedly anti-Israel.

With Anonymous' backing, 0xOmar now has researchers and other sleuths looking to unmask him. An Israeli student, Amir Phadida, told the Israeli tabloid Ynet that, through a pro-Palestinian forum, he found the hacker's email address and Facebook profile, which identified 0xOmar as Omar Habib a 19-year-old computer science student and cafe employee in Pachuca, Mexico.

0xOmar refuted Phadida's claims and said nobody can find him. "I saw some stupids said they've found me, one in Mexico, one in Riyadh, one in Dubai, look, let me explain my method, as I know no one can find me," 0xOmar wrote.

His method, he said, is that he's hijacked computers around the world, which he uses to hide himself and through which he conducts his attacks.

"I use a really complicated hand-made method for hiding myself, so if you reach to Dubai, Mexico, Riyadh, Minsk, Helsinki, New York, Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Tokyo, Moscow, etc., excellent! You found one of my poor victims."

In a final message, 0xOmar invited "all Arab-Muslim hackers to unite against Israel and join this war."

where are the iranian brains?? why they don't attack "their enemy"?......only a saudi kid can.
Now the hacker is inside the Israel infra-structures, where is the impressive capabilities of israel that benjamin netanyahu was speaking off? :D

seems israelis are taking all the beating in this cyber war.

I managed to get hold of the Saudi CCs but could not get hold of "Israeli" CCs.

Google and all the search engines, blocks searches for CC's and hacking ,so you wont find any using a search engines, how ever they allowed only the CC's published by israelis to show up, to make it look not so bad for them, if you go to stolen CC's forums and p2p file sharing and irc hacking servers, i'm sure you will find loads of the israeli CC's there.
