Satellite Photos of Iran's attack on US bases

are you sure you are not blind? they are talking about another picture.

There were no active Patriot batteries around Al Assad base at time of attack. Nor was there THAAD batteries either. The base was relatively unprotected against a BM/CM threat.

If you are gonna quote sources then at least pick CREDIBLE sources and then do some verification.

I can post a tweets from a Iranian NBC correspondent from last night that said Iranian fighter jets had entered Iraqi air space. But I think we can both agree that did not happen.

Twitter is great for fast information, but is known for disinformation, bots, propaganda, and using images from other time periods or conflicts.

Even if Patriot missiles were there Iranian Fateh-110 would make it through as THAAD is better at intercepting Fateh. Patriot might be able to intercept Qiam as it’s largely based on Shahab-2 (SCUD).

But the Pentagon already admitted to direct hits last night and admitted they didn’t have air defense systems in place.

Somehow I seem to have to agree with @TheImmortal's assessment. This could all be for public consumption. The Iranian Government didn't want to escalate the war but had to satisfy the public's thirst. Thus they informed the Iraqis and inturn the US. Or else how is it possible not a single casualty is reported? Somehow the storyline doesn't seem to fit.

It seems strange, even stupid, to have one of the biggest bases completely unprotected.

logically that base should have had an air defense. And it makes sense that it most probably failed to intercept Iranian BMs.

no country would admit that they had protection and it failed miserably. The outcome of that is disastrous. The patriot system is the bulk of US air defense and lately it has started to get really bad rep. It makes all sense in the world to deny it was deployed.

There are reports that 80 US soldiers were killed. Maybe Trump is hiding casualities.

Bro, AFAIK only the Iranian media has reported this 80 dead. We need more confirmation. But to me, this all seems so set up.

You can't hide 80 casualties forever and Iranian media is usually not accurate. I believe only infrastructure damage only occured.
True.

Iraqi PM said that Iran notified them at 12:00 and the first missile strike didn’t take place 1:20

And before that I posted tweets where the military on Monday was expecting Iranian response within 24 to 36 hours.

Iran did not target barracks or troop bunkers and purposely avoided casualties. I speculated this last night and was confirmed by Pentagon by the morning.

Irans response was adequate if military generals and government officials kept their mouth shut in the days of mourning. But all they did was make Iran look like a Loud mouth talker. The way Iranian officials were talking you would think they were going to wipe CENTCOM from the map.

First it’s NOT a US base. It is an Iraqi base that has existed since 80’s.

Second US LEFT Iraq after 2011, they came back to Iraq with a small force to aid Iraq.

Al-Assad was not expected to receive BMs or CMs. Patriot missiles are in the green zone or near consulates. Patriot missile system is useless against rockets which is the likely threat that Al-Assad base would ever face.

Also Iran has a few military bases in Syria COMPLETELY defenseless and they actually get bombed by Israel.

US never thought in 2016/2017 when they would enter Iraq again that Iran would hit them with ballistic missiles. Last guy to do that was Saddam in ‘91 gulf war that’s 30 YEARS AGO.

Iranian media started reported the figure as soon as they launched the missiles. Exactly after 40 mins. How can they reached to that conclusion on their own and that too in night time. Iraqis didn't reported any casualty nor does any NATO country. Anyways its good that no American were killed else, US would had retaliated. Seems like they too don't want any further escalation.

You can't hide 80 casualties forever

Why not ? USA managed to eventually silence Assange, what's the problem in hiding 80 casualities ?

Iranian media is usually not accurate.

More accurate that US propaganda.

Bro, AFAIK only the Iranian media has reported this 80 dead. We need more confirmation.

If USA want to hide casualities don't expect them to report casualities. We would probably never know, unless of course USA finally admit they lost 80 soldiers.

Sleigh of hand. ;)

They have their people on the ground in Iraq.

Buddy, don't be so naive. If Americans were to be killed, they would retaliate before we could even spell retaliate.

There are non Americans stationed there as well. If Americans are hiding, other won't especially the Iraqis.

Just nearly an year back, we witnessed an obnoxious and hilarious claim by our east neighbor of knocking down a militant training camp in Pakistan and killing 350 people. How truth was that, we all know it. So countries do make tall claims to satisfy their people. We, Pakistanis experience it all the time in the form of India.

Sure but it is still filled with nato personnel. It has never been out of realm of expectation that Iran would attack the bases. Adequate protection would have make sense!

Patriot missile system is useless against rockets which is the likely threat that Al-Assad base would ever face

Obviously it is useless. However: ”Patriot has been given the function of the U.S. Army's anti-ballistic missile (ABM) system, which is now Patriot's primary mission. “
Primary! The prices on each missile is 2million USD. A POP! And you think they would admit that it again failed to intercept. Now they can’t even blame useless saudi operators.

Also Iran has a few military bases in Syria COMPLETELY defenseless and they actually get bombed by Israel.

if they could then they would. Iran has just recently been mass producing state of the art AD. In a couple of years it will be packed with Iranian ad. Anything else is stupid.

Buddy, don't be so naive. If Americans were to be killed, they would retaliate before we could even spell retaliate.

I'm not naive. Iran attacked US millitary bases and US didn't dare to retaliate. Since USA officially didn't lost 80 soldiers, there is no pressure on Trump to try to retaliate.

There are non Americans stationed there as well. If Americans are hiding, other won't especially the Iraqis.

Maybe Iraqis don't know about US casualities, since US is hiding casualities. But since USA officially didn't have casualities things can calm down.
