Sweden only has 96 gripen C/D vs the over 1000 American f16s (not including the many other countries with spare f16s), spending the valuable time training on a jet with only 1/10th the availability for a relatively small performance difference just isn't worth it at this point in the war.

I doubt something like that can happen in Russia wןthout Putin approving it.

To me it seems Putin wanted to make an example out of him. In medevil times they choped heads and put then on display.I guess this is his version of that.

There is a long lists of people who spoke against Putin and died in " mysterious " circumstances .

Yes, Ukrainian drones were destroyed by the much vaunted S400, but it likely happened when the drone struck the S400 and not the other way around. But these days for Ivan a win is a win.

The original poster, apparently a foreign fighter, said the russian panicked and ran back towards the trench and got killed.

The F-16s are not going to help the ukrainian offensive, but the fact that they will start to arrive does mean they do not have to hold back the sovjet planes they have left. We might see some more offensive actions by the ukrainian airforce in the future.
