Russia confirms sale of advanced anti-aircraft missiles to Iran

Iran can't buy offensive weapons b/c of the UN sanctions. Iran also can't build proper jets. Hence, they focus on air defense. If it wasn't for all these limitations, you'd see a massive order for new jets in a heart beat.

Yes i am aware of the sanctions however since Iran and Russia are strategic partners and moreover Russia is already selling advance weapons to Iran, they can make exceptions for jets as well.
Pakistan too was under sanctions however we still manged to maintain our air fleet and moreover acquire more from China. Something similar should be or can be arranged between Iran and Russia.
On a side note has Iran ever tried to enter into a defense deal with Pakistan.........say JF-17?
