Dude in Delhi people do use this word Chinki for both NE indians and Chineese. If you don't beleave then thats fine with me. We offen used to call one of my freind from Ladakh by Chinki and kanchi.

I didn't know racism was that widespread in Delhi. As to not generalize, I'm going to assume it's probably just your area. The appropriate term is "Chini" or "Cheeni" but if you say "Chinki" or "Chinky", then you are making fun of them and being racist to them based on their facial features. Not cool.

Let me get one thing straight with you.. I am a Bengali.. I have also been taunted by names, customs by fellow Indians.... South Indians are also taunted by names and customs.. Gujratis, Marwaris etc are also taunted.. As a country we taunt each other racially.. Call us racist.. But I think even in China you have your own ways.. People taunt people from other regions.. iam a delhiite and i didn't knew that chinki is an offensive word.......
lots of people call me chinki or pahadi becaz i have small chinki eyes.c'mon buddies i have seen many punjabies naming their daughters chinky.it's not offensive in india.we have a word for all of them like up and biharis are called bhaiya,marathis are called maanus,people from dehradoon are called garhwaalis,people from south are called mallus and same goes with north eastern state they are called chinkis............
i have lots of friend from north east thnx to call center and they don't mind the word chinki.........

racism is everywhere.yesterday i watched a clip of russel peters in which he made fun of deaf guys and told how deaf guys are racists..........

Now I just see it as daily comedy.

Most of the times people just start using words instead of trying to look at their origin in India people do say different words with different tones and end up making a all new word.
