What's new

PTI's Azadi March 14th August 2014 l Updates and debate.

As I said, that is fine, for it is your right to care or not.
But at least it is good to see PTI engage the Court properly, as it should.

The courts are generally pro-NS; too bad, IK himself took a big and active part in restoring these judges. IK is kind of lucky that CJP I. Chaudhry has retired--he would take some 'suo moto' actions and would have even asked the military to come to the court's assistance. PMs Y. Gilani and Nadir Pervez too didn't like the courts but--we all know how much their dislikes mattered.

Courts must implement the laws fairly and impartially for the system to work properly.

Correct. And the only way the 'system' could legally remove NS was a No Confidence Motion. The marchers relied on 3rd parties and given that the marchers couldn't bring out big numbers AND that most of the Pakistanis in judiciary, media, legal communities, political parties were not sympathetic to the marchers goals of removing NS--it is a lost cause now. The 3rd parties are not going to kick out NS.
It would be better if IK at least manages to leave with this KPK govt and an iron-clad guarantee of no rigging in future. But is he rational enough to retreat when the circumstances demand he should?

You are correct, but at least the Courts should do what they are supposed to do, without fear or favor. At some point PTI must realize that the endgame is here for their current dharna. They will then work towards the next elections, as they should have, all along.

Problem with IK is that he doesn't trust anyone. If something happens in his favor (the recent by-election win) he would cheer. If something against then he will condemn. He would have condemned the ECP had he lost the by-election.

Well, IK, or any other man/woman by himself/herself, cannot be regarded as the sole source of wisdom and correctness. A nation has to have all systems and institutions working properly and in harmony to survive and prosper.

IK has said that he will accept the SC verdicts on some occasions. Let's see whether he actually does that or not in this case.

We should have a forum or something that broadcasts our views to the government and a petition that if it gets enough votes it should be mandatory for the government to take action on it and court should try to enforce it if government isn't following it, much peaceful and better way than protests. What do you guys think?

@Syed.Ali.Haider @Meengla @Akheilos @Leader @Jazzbot

And others too :D

I think those are called "elections". :D

elections are not forums ...you dont even get to talk to your MNA...you just take the biryani and put in the paper...

Actually, all MNAs and MPAs do have to communicate with their constituents. You just have to find them and participate in the process. The fault lies more with the voters than the candidates.

Yea going through all their body guards and other useless people surrounding them only to hear them bark? Were they educated one would put in the effort :D

....not forget to mention them only being nice on that day ...and of course never to be seen again :D

Like I said, some effort to get involved in the process is a must.

The petition is kinda like election but good thing about it would be that you can get rid of incompetent quickly and like you said if they know that there every move is being judged and questioned then they will try to do something better. The forum would be to debate government policies and show the work they are doing in their respective districts.

Like I said, some effort to get involved in the process is a must.

You do know that after election date not a single candidate can be found :D
