Sunni Ittehad Council staged rally outside Geo TV office in Karachi and dubbed it 'people's court'.

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Rallies to protest against Geo TV’s allegedly blasphemous broadcast and to show solidarity with Pakistan armed forces continue even on the third day, Dunya News reported.
The protest rallies were attended by various political and religious parties. Demonstrators demanded the government to take immediate action against the private TV channel Geo TV accused of airing blasphemous content in its morning show called ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’.
Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) protested outside Geo office in Karachi and dubbed it as Awami Adalat (People’s Court). Protestors expressed grave anger against the network over allegedly blasphemous broadcast and allegations against Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) after one of network’s key journalists Hamid Mir was shot in Karachi.
Addressing the demonstrators, SIC leaders said that Geo TV has been indicted in the ‘people’s court’ staged outside Geo TV’s office.
Sunni Tehrik also staged a rally under supervision of Sarwat Ejaz Qadri to express solidarity with Pakistan Army. Another rally was staged against Geo/Jang group and for Pakistan army by the Pakistan Helpline Welfare Organization. Demonstrators demanded action against Geo News and Jang group.
Another demonstration under the banner of All Pakistan Muslim League and Pasbaan-e-Aza was held outside Karachi Press Club for the purpose of showing solidarity to the armed forces.
Earlier, the protesters demanded the government to take immediate action against Geo.
People belonging to various sections of society including lawyers and members of civil society participated in the rallies in Lahore.
The demonstrators were carrying banners and placards that had anti-Geo slogans.
In Rahimyar Khan, workers of Jamaat ud Dawah took to the streets and staged a sit-in outside press club. The anjuman tajiran also took out a rally in Arifwala.
Ahl-e-sunnat wal jamaat protested against the Geo administration in Chaghi. ASWJ workers also held a demonstration in Mianwali.
Sunni Tehreek also staged a protest against the Geo’s morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’.
Earlier, several protestors demonstrated outside Peshawar press club carrying banners that had slogans against the media house. The protestors chanted slogans against the network and demanded to shut it down.
People took to streets over the offending broadcast in Kohat as well.
Members of Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) held a demonstration outside Bahawalpur press club. It was attended by a huge number of women protestors as well. Participants were carrying banners demanding shut down of Geo TV’s broadcasts.
