It's not about the fighter plane. Russian can have the lastest fighter plane but they lack the globe and real time coverage of satellites to provide most up to date info for strike target.
Many times their info delay and when their bomber or strike plane get to targeted area. The enemies has already disappeared or no where to be seen.

Nonsense. Then why they are not using the so called reserve airforce but resort to nuke threat. Obviously they have problem dealing in conventional warfare. They may have plenty of fighter planes but I doubt most are airworthy. There are even video of Su-25 straight crash after take off. Very likely due to poor maintenance and low combat readiness.

The problem with the VKS is that the Russian military sees airpower as an extension of artillery, in other words, airborne artillery. The concept is not new and actually dated since the beginning of the airplane. It was not until after WW II that proponents of airpower pushed for the independence of air forces into strategic doctrines.

Does the US practices airpower as airborne artillery? Yes, it is called the A-10. But therein lies the difference between US and the Soviets/Russia. We designed a specific platform while the Soviets/Russia views airpower as a whole. I posted a couple of explanations of what is 'airborne artillery' in the Russia-Ukraine War thread a few months ago. Since then, what I posted bear out in that the VKS is today all but tactically worthless, leaving army vs army. The Ukrainian Air Force is simply too numerically few to matter. So the issue is not how many airplanes the VKS has but what doctrine are they under. In sum, this thread is stupid and waste bandwidth.

You right sir. Russian army is so very regular and not designed to fight guerilla/urban warfare.

But there is a difference between Afghanistan and east of Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine is composed of Russian ethnics who have suffered from Kievan Neo-NAZIs. There Russian army is welcome by the locals. On the other hand Americans had no base in Iraq or Afghanistan. Americans were the invaders not saviors. People of Luhansk see Russian army as their savior. They won't resist, on the contrary they would welcome Russians with their open arms. That was why Kievan NAZIs bombed the eastern cities in Ukraine, the sole goal was to strike fear in the hearts of Russian ethnics of Ukraine. And also, it was the reason behind high tolerance from Russian side.
