'from China' part is more important than 'Bangladesh navy buy 2 old training sub' part.
come on , chinese has given it not free , they came at a loan of $1bn ....

I think Parrikar intends to buy them for target practice for the light combat helicopter.
no hardwear , present talk is about digital fancing the boarder.....to stop illigal migrents...

:haha:....:omghaha:.....OK give me a moment....:p:...So now it's not hardware, considering he arrived with a list of offers (OPVs, aircraft maintenance etc etc) as quoted by even indian sources. Now your saying (making up) we didn't want to sell anything, we just came to talk about border fencing..........and illegal migrant....from the defence minister (plus the deputy heads of the other branches)....keep digging.

$1 billion for 2 1970s vintage submarines @damiendehorn o_O ??

instead counter offer to train Indian military officer Bangladeshi military institution .

I would suggest the Bangladeshi navy to train Indian fisherman in their over glorified fishing trawlers they call OPVs.

You can't even read? $103m for each refurbished training submarines, plus a new submarine base, support plus training. Well by the record, indian sailors need the training, so they don't blow up their subs in their own port.....

Don't get ahead of yourself. That is actually a project of JGH Marine Denmark outsourced to you. You're decades away from any sort of design & development in the case of these kind of vessels.

Sure, like you indians said, we'll never build a ship building sector......:-)

None of which could be localized given your pathetic engineering & technology base. I feel really sad for you.

The guys who are training you are the same folks who couldn't locate their sunken submarine for 3 weeks. It was finally found by fishermen.

And if you didn't knew it was the same Ming class submarine- it suffered an engine failure. So best of luck to your sailors.

You still don't- other than some over glorified river barges & coasters.

Anyway most of this is just minor purchase from China for now. Just 2 old training subs from China, a new sub base and support. We are building our own hydrographic research ships and with tech help from China more surface vessels...wonder will we share the bay of Bengal hydro data with the Chinese...:-)

I dont know why this Provu guy dont go to burma and try to sell something where he will have better luck. @Aung Zaya

Actually they use Indian made radars & sonars in their frigates, which are far advanced than anything in the Bangladeshi fleet.
