I don't think a man like Putin gives a shyt about Modi.

Russia is a sovereign nation, they are free to do as they please but these military sales to Pakistan is a genuine concern and a problem for us, and India being their no1 customer for that sort of hardware, will exert pressure to stop/limit it.. to what extent we will be successful, not sure.. but the government here will try for sure. These are, after all, weapons that could be used against India.

The Russians have also lost some meaty tenders to the US/west in fair shootouts (mmrca, transport/attack helos etc) , so as our biggest, oldest and most reliable partner, and senior partner in co development programs.. it is to be expected that they will also play these games and poke us where it hurts.

Meanwhile, the US is also sweetening the pot by opening up their arsenal and offering their top of the line systems, but we are very aware how those come with a tonne of riders and are susceptible to sanctions.

India are open to anyone who will do fair business.. both US/west and Russia want a pie of the huge market here, in the end it's all about money.

Certainly and eye brow raiser for India but Soviet and Russia has been a tried and trusted allies of India and I am sure both countries very well understand the importance of the relation, no second thought about it. Sanctions on Russia and eventually getting close bonds with China has made Russia to develop interest in Pakistan, substantial market to sell weapons is also another reason for Russia to build ties with Pakistan but as introspected and speculated by many analyst, Russia too will be interested in own gains and to build and make ties with Pakistan like China...

Nope, it took a couple of years to get these helicopters starting from Kiyani's visit to Moscow. I am quite certain that Pakistan wasn't trying to buy Mi-35 for twenty years. And you will see the helicopters in our fleet and not just four, just like you saw the subsequent orders for RD-93 - the powerhouse of the JF-17 fleet. You denied it then, you deny it now. But that wont change the reality.
