Go about begging like he did in China, that don't do this and that with Pakistan?
I don't think a man like Putin gives a shyt about Modi.
Russia is a sovereign nation, they are free to do as they please but these military sales to Pakistan is a genuine concern and a problem for us, and India being their no1 customer for that sort of hardware, will exert pressure to stop/limit it.. to what extent we will be successful, not sure.. but the government here will try for sure. These are, after all, weapons that could be used against India.
The Russians have also lost some meaty tenders to the US/west in fair shootouts (mmrca, transport/attack helos etc) , so as our biggest, oldest and most reliable partner, and senior partner in co development programs.. it is to be expected that they will also play these games and poke us where it hurts.
Meanwhile, the US is also sweetening the pot by opening up their arsenal and offering their top of the line systems, but we are very aware how those come with a tonne of riders and are susceptible to sanctions.
India are open to anyone who will do fair business.. both US/west and Russia want a pie of the huge market here, in the end it's all about money.
Let's see how it goes, but F 35 or T 50, you can be sure be sure we'll maintain a massive conventional forces imbalance with Pakistan always, not half a milliliter of Kashmir or anywhere else will you get, ever.
Just look at the Indian polity.. on the left we have socialists and commies who hate everything US and love the Russians long time, on the right you have the nationalists, who are pro business anti commies.. but both sides remember this well.
Hailing Russia as “our country’s greatest friend,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Russian President Vladimir Putin that India was committed to deepening ties between the two countries and to exploring new areas of cooperation.
Mr. Modi met the Russian President on the sidelines of the 6 th BRICS summit in Fortaleza, Brazil, on late Tuesday night and invited him to visit the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu.
“If you ask anyone among the more than one billion people living in India who is our country’s greatest friend, every person, every child knows that it is Russia,” Mr. Modi said.

we did 100 billion $ worth of business in 1 day of the visit.
but as we know, geopolitics is a fluid situation, no friends, only interests... let's see what you manage in the end.
