I dont know how good a Chinese sub will be. But without air-independent propulsion system (AIP), its useless as most modern subs are equipped with this system.

PN will fit the french AIP into the chinese boats if they buy the S20 type (without AIP). the advantage of buying the S20 is that it can be re-fitted with western sensors, AIP and weapons.

Man it seems with every weapon deal we scare the hell out of Indians I was going through their forums and every second Indian was suggesting either to protest to China or put pressure or sell weapons and missiles to country like vietnam and Phillipines @Abu Nasar @Aeronaut @Oscar

can you please elaborate this point??how S20 is going to be compatible with western sensors and equipments??plus,how you can be so sure that France will allow their Mesma AIP to install into a chinese origin sub??Mesma is compatible with Augusta 90B and Scorpene and is quite costly.plus,the sub going to need a new hull section of 27 feet,which means either you need to add it during construction or you've to cut your submarines to integrate it later.its way better if they choose Chinese AIP instead,which is based on Striling AIP.

If that was the point than a bigger A-90 should have been developed with the help of French something on the lines of Type U209 Dolphin completely western.

Chinese sub technology is already on par with western. Latest MINT news prove Chinese nuclear sub are equipped with pump jet propulsion system. Only UK, USN , Russia and China possess such advance submarine technology.

Pump jet is state of art technology for any military submarine. If not ask the British, US and Russian why do they design their latest sub with pumpjet? Of cos, those who can't make one will claim its not on cutting edge. Sour grape is common among human beings.

Pakistan getting the Pakistan specific model of TYPE 41 Yuan class submarine probably based on export model S-20 from yuan type 41 or directly based on type 41 . there will be still thread after thread until the official declaration come from authority as confusion rumor going on . but what is certain Pakistan going for all weather friend China for its undersea arm.
