Pakistan in talks for 4 Ada Class Corvettes, T-129 Helicopters & modernization of agosta fleet

Comparing Umkhonto and VT-1 (both Crotal descendants), would suggest that making the Umkhonto's mid-body fins fold can make the missile quad-pakable. But perhaps replacing them with strakes has additional advantages or is technically easier option. VT-1 is quadpacked into Sylver A-35.
Denel Dynamics had proposed a SAM version of the A-Darter for the Brazilian Army. The A-Darter uses strakes.

Still, even with A-Darter, you need folding tail fins, just like you have on VT1

Umkhonto CLOS appears very similar to VT1 (which is also CLOS)

I was told by a former Kentron guy that they had envisaged using the Umkhonto CLOS as an entry level system. I wonder if they would develop it up further, but as a quad-pack short/medium range SAM like CAMM.

Since we delayed our order how does the purchase of Saudi Ships from Turkey impacts our potential project (which according to many sources is very close to becoming real)

Just was wondering how far it puts our potential delivery dates

I would imagine Turkish ports do have limit on building ships per year etc

Assembly would be done in Pakistan.

As for the Pakistani MILGEM order, the final decision will be made in or around July.

Possibly (it was reported by S&H), but if we don't get anything by end of July, consider it dead.
well the turkish mod said the deal was to be signed at idef this year valued at $1 billion with all 4 to be built in pakistan. lets see. heck the navy chief said there looking for ships so they must be on the hunt. if not turkish it will be chinese as the 4000 tonne frigate or the tiger class (updated c28a) the giveaway is the codad propulsion

Worth noting that Turkey is also extending a $400 million loan to Pakistan for the deal. That loan should cover for the cost of the hulls and engines - Pakistan will have to figure out subsystems and weapons separately. It's quite possible that any delay is related to that (subsystems and weapons).

$400 is 40% of the project cost this should be enough to purchase the steel, engine and basic subsystems. the weapons and the c&c suite is about 40% of the cost of the ship.
  • have they began building a ship yard in port qasim?
  • i dont think pakistan can make its own military grade steel, can they?
  • is there any dock space available in karachi?

  • @cabatli_53 can turkey hand over the steel alloy composition to pakistan as an offset?
  • any idea on the interest rates on the $400 million loan?

have they began building a ship yard in port qasim?

well maybe but if it was true than there might be some pics leak already cause its not a huge secretive deal .

couldn't it be same Steel we used in Azmat and F-22P's ? we do build both ships at home from scratch

is there any dock space available in karachi?

Depends, cause last we heard we already working on Azmat block 2 ( with round tubes launchers 3x2 ) and one 600 and 1500 Ton Patrol ship ..

A new ship lift and transfer facility is under construction at KSEW which will allow construction of 13 7,000 ton range ships simultaneously. In a year or so capacity will not be an issue. Using dry docks for constructing ship is outdated.
