The only issue of dispute between India and Pakistan as far as Jammu and Kashmir is concerned is the illegal occupation of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan by Pakistan, the government on Thursday said. Union Minister Jitendra Singh reiterated India’s demand that Pakistan should vacate illegal occupation of these areas.

Singh’s sharp remarks came in response to Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit favouring resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the “aspirations of Kashmiris”.

Basit was speaking at an event at the High Commission at New Delhi on Thursday to mark Pakistan’s national day.

Talking to reporters outside Parliament, Singh said “Today if there is any issue between India and Pakistan on J&K, it is only the illegal occupation by Pakistan, whether it is Azad Kashmir (Azad Kashmir) or Gilgit-Baltistan”.

He also added, “How it can be freed from Pakistan’s occupation and made a part of the Indian republic…that is the only issue now”.

Singh said India’s position has been clear for many years now and in 1994, a resolution (on the issue) was also passed in Parliament which all political parties had supported.

Basit had said the aspirations of people “can be suppressed but not quelled and I hope the struggle of the Kashmiris will prove successful”.

Idiots are those who are not able to understand mentally a statement made by different PM's of India time and again. Last year PM modi too cleared that there will be no talk on Kashmir. Still Pakistanis made unnecessarily statement on Kashmir time and again. May be India will be ready (if you are lucky enough) to talk on Galigat, baltistan and rest Occupied territory by Pakistan.

Azad Kashmir is as "Azad" as Pakistan is "Pak". U.N. Resolutions specify that Pak needs to vacate the land it unilaterally invaded and illegally occupied so that a plebiscite can be conducted under U.N. auspices. Ironically, Pakistani posters keep harping on the same U.N. Resolutions even though they have never bothered adhering to them.

Instead of dealing with it like modern nation-states deal with their border disputes, Pakistan still acts like it is stuck in the middle of the 20th century and tries to force the issue. I have neither abused you nor your country. And yes, Pakistani do often post stuff on Indian websites - but obviously they are lesser Pakistanis - as a population and even in their population with Internet access or indeed even literacy levels.

You don't avoid our world. It wasn't India who made the first statement, it was the Pak High Commissioner who made the statement. We wish you well too. If you are so concerned about Indian Muslims - why doesn't your Government have a "Right to Return Law"? How many Indian Muslims have sought refuge in Pakistan after 1965? I know there are Pakistani Hindus who seek Indian citizenship and residency. Heck, even a Pakistani Muslim recently became an Indian citizen.
