Pakistan bids to host Cricket World Cup 2018

LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Zaka Ashraf has said that Pakistan submitted a bid to host 2018 World Cup to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the matter has also been forwarded to the Cricket Governing Body.

Speaking to media at the airport after his return from Dubai where he attended an ICC meeting , Ashraf said that talks were held with some more countries to woo them for Pakistan tour but there was no progress.

Replying to a query regarding MuhammaD Asif and Salman Butt, the PCB chief said that the cricketers would have to complete their punishment before the cricket board considered their future. However, he said that sentencing and banning such players would be an example for others.

The WC is 5 years away, if S.Africa can host FIFA worldcup,Pakistan can host the world cup too,the security climate is not going to last for ever. I don't know what practicality you are talking about.

Since India , BD and Sri lanka had jointly hosted last world cup, it is not going to be awarded to any subcontinental country for at least a decade. This time it would be AUS/NZ, then it would be turn of SA/ England and only after that Bid of any subcontinental country would be considered.

If you are talking about Aparthied,there is a huge difference between 1990 and 2010.

The WC did not happen in 1994.

Pakistanis are adament @agamdilawari that the situation will improve one day in Pakistan and the terror threat will be eliminated. In Pakistan the difference is that no matter how difficult it is we still go after the terrorists and fight them despite the consequences. In India no one touches the right wing saffron groups which are free to operate. We are suffering massive consequences of terrorism including many innocents framed on false charges but despite this we are fighting and doing our best to deal with the Islamic terrorists.
