Pakistan bans English for Islamic words!

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Saturday approved a summary prohibiting the English translation of Islamic terms, which means that the word “masjid” cannot be substituted with the English word “mosque”.

Sacred Arabic names and words like Allah, masjid, sala’at and Rasool are now forbidden to be translated in English as God, mosque, prayer and prophet, respectively, as per the summary approved by the Prime Minister. Religious scholars have appreciated the government’s move and stressed the need to implement the decision.

Prominent cleric Mufti Naeem said that the decision is commendable but it should be enforced in letter and spirit. He lauded the Prime Minister for taking the decision in the holy month of Ramzan.

Mufti Muneebur Rehman also lauded the move, saying some religious terms and names are best described in Arabic and they couldn’t be translated in English.

Well, I would just consider it a good step taken to keep things in their real form. Its not a great achievment. Just a good initiative taken. Besides, I dont see anything wrong for such sarcasm I see
in this post.

Yes to all. And still no weird complex do I display.

What bloody difference does it make which language I say these words in. Who are any of you to play God and deny my usage or pass down God-like judgement?

Bhai, I quoted the Shamil-e-tirmidhi to highlight there are actions; turban, kul, length of beard, miswak, etc that we follow in the land of the pure that even the Arabs don't do it. So there is no ''wannabe'' Arab complex.

You are looking at it from a different perspective and I'm looking at it from the point of view, any drop of getting closer to understanding Islam is better than nothing. And Allah knows best!

Last point, this one will burn no doubt: You are not Arab, you were never Arab, it is highly likely that your ancestors were Hindus, or some other Vedic or ancient Indus valley religions. You will never be Arab no matter how much you display this complex habibi. You're unfortunately another South Asian.

Bhai, I follow whatever Nabi as'salaathu was'salaam defines me. My nisbat is Kashmiri. 'However', forgive me I can't find a translation to the above hadith. I am not allowed to translate the hadith as I don't have ijaza. However, for this I will translate the relevant part and PLEASE get it checked, even though what I have translated is correct Insha'Allah.

The bold part is where the nabi as'salaathu was'salaam defines what an Arab is. Indeed that with his tongue from who speaks Arabic so he is an Arab.

We are ''supposed'' to make 70 excuses for our Muslim brothers. How do you know it is what you claim it is? He may thought it was water and drank it by mistake? We must keep husna-zan of people!

وقف يمزح كنت كافر

Are you a Mufti to make that call?

He is a moron. What difference does it make if Rasool is called Prophet or Allah as God. This is just further going to increase the religious intolerance in the society.
Phela logon ko is lia qattal ker diya jata tha kah woh naff sa upper yah naaf sa necha haath baand raha hain, abb God khena per be kafir declare ker ka mar diya jai ga.

Hi,

Thank you for the post---. What that would mean is that Allah is illiterate and does not understand if someone calls HIm God and asks for mercy----that n tself is a blasphemy that Mr Nawaz Sharif has just committed-----.

Allah is not the God of the muslims alone----he is the Lord of the 'Alam' the worlds----what a disgrace to His name and to His integrity and honor

But to the contrary----if you look at the happenings in the real world----Allah understand ENGLISH much better than Arabic and Urdu at this time----because all the prayers asked in English are answered better and on fast trak than those being asked in Urdu and Arabic----.

And all the prayers being offered in Urdu and Arabic are mostly being rejected and their speakers living in conditions near or close to hell----death, destruction, slaughter, misery, slavery, rape, plunder, executions, lootings.

And may the Master of the Universe----The Lord of the heavens and hell, The Merciful and The Benevolent, may He forgive me of my sins that I have committed in this world and those that I have yet to commit---Amen.

Baning arabic terms is NOT stupid I wuld say. Lets for instance take God. It is a translation of Allah.
I am sure you know we should not use God, as it has a plural form where Allah is One of His type, Unique in attribute. Our religion stands on the base of Oneness of Allah. Refering to Allah as God means somehow kind of against the basic ideology. It might not be a problem to those who understand this concept completely, but not for others, i.e new converts, non-muslims and etc.
Secondly, for instance, fridge is a english word, invention of someone, I am sure not arab or south asian. Since, it comes from other people of another language, I guess it stays fridge in every language(at least urdu). So, these words, i.e Rasool, Masjid and Allah come from arabic language. Whats wrong in keeping it that way? Rather, I believe, it is a good step to keep things in their original form.

It's enough for me you listen to terrorist Abdul aziz speech and ready to accept his speech. You are deprived from world and typical 4th century mentality with no hope.
I suggest you to throw your wireless keyboard as this is invention of terrorist Israel and don't eat their medicine.
You are helpless man with no Hope.
Why don't you use brain, this is not first time HE was caught drunk.
Typical Madrasa education in the nutshell of bacha baazi. No wonder you are deprived from world and from other advancements happening in the world.

Well, if we can change "Khuda Hafiz" to "Allah Hafiz", this can be done too.
It was blasphemy according to some extremists. Why don't they use brain. Their brain is melting like snow. But they have brain to beat their wives and processions against America. Those Mullahs were first people sold themselves to U.S.A for dollars under the shadow of Jihad, when America stopped their aid, Mullahs became their biggest enemy.
Hypocrisy at its peak!

Just give them free lunch!

It is not just the Mullahs who sold themselves. It was a team effort by many other categories too to see who could be sold for the least.

Different people have different way of thinking. And This is their belief but it is not necessary that it is reality.
Educated people will say different , Mullahs will say different. ..Even different sections have different opinions.
Illiteracy is issue here!

Honda still has its headquarters in Japan and offices all over the world, but expect to hear a little less Japanese from the automaker in the coming years. A small statement in the business' latest sustainability report (available here as a PDF) announces English will become the official language for interregional communication by 2020. Honda believes that the change should foster better contact between countries as Japan becomes a less central focus for the company.

As part of this shift, any documents or questions during interregional meetings, plus any other information being shared between territories, must be in English. To put some extra weight behind the mandate, the ability to speak the language is going to be a requirement for future promotions to management. In the meantime, "Honda has implemented measures in Japan that include study programs aimed at boosting English language skills," the sustainability report said.

According to Automotive News, former CEO Takanobu Ito called the idea of making English an official language for company communications "stupid" five years ago. Although even under his watch, things were changing. In 2013, Honda adopted English as the main form of discourse in global meetings.

The decision to lessen the focus on Japanese within Honda stems in part from changing worker demographics and major sales regions. According to Automotive News, 81 percent of the company's production comes from outside of Japan, and the country only accounts for about a third of the workforce. Also, 40 percent of global sales are from North America.

Honda is quickly transitioning into a more global company in general. For example, the latest Civic Type R is assembled in the UK but has an engine from the US. Also, North America is getting the European made Civic five-door hatchback for the venerable model's next generation.

English as the Official Language

Setting English as the official language in inter- regional communications

It is vital to develop an environment that achieves close communication between associates in six regions worldwide in order for the Honda Group to display its comprehensive capabilities while local sites are independent.

Therefore, Honda is working to set English as the official language when we engage in inter-regional communication by 2020 by using English in the documents used at inter-regional conferences, including the use of English for questions from communicators of information, and in interactions for the sharing of information.

As part of this, Honda has implemented measures in Japan that include study programs aimed at boosting English language skills and plans to make English language skills a requirement for promotion to management level in the future.

What is the punishment for using the English words? Will it be considered blasphemy?
