What's new

Pak Suzuki stopping Alto 1000 manufacturing

Pak Suzuki shouldn't be making anything.

How about adopting Euro NCAP safety standards? Eh? Instead of Emissions?

Stop making and selling potential death traps.

Thats is so very True...The Alto and Mehran are made without even seat belts......Ten they talk of Euro standards...

Pakistani car market is literally owned by 3 giants. Toyota, Honda and Suzuki. They are robbing Pakistanis like anything.

Can you imagine a Toyota Corolla at Rs. 15,50000 without ABS, Auto windows, power locks, Alloys, Air bags etc etc.

Sadly all our governments have been complicit in this exploitation of Pakistani consumers.

thats a ripp off, can you import cars from china???

The last i saw....Mehran didn't even have a defogger....even though the price has gone up every year!

They probably think your life is not worth putting a defogger in!

Past experience says Extremely bad to force people to buy the big cars another big slap on the face of poor zardari corrupt mafia Indian government will never stop this car rather give more variety in 1000 cc cars when a name of shame 800cc mehran car price reaches 6 lakes just a match box with weak engine no facilities inside even if u buy brand new u will find so many mechanical flaws in it for several months totally waist of money who hard earned rather then stopping soodhi nizam interests in banks in the country which is so called Islamic encouraging this thing and increasing prices day by day of worst quality vehicles manufactured inside Pakistan GOD BLESS PAKISTAN:undecided:

No car company cooperates with other to make a cartel, this is complete nonsense.
Even two japanese car company will not agree to fix prices, they do it based on market(and competition)

The high price of corolla is probably due to high import duty, can anybody tell me the duty component of the car?

Also compliance is demanded by your own govt, why blame carmaker (if it does not make sense for them to make a low margin car compliant)

Statement in bold reflects your mentality and reason of your poor state..
Rather accusing India for all your mess.. tell your mighty businessmen to invest in auto industry , do JV with foreign company..
and this is not fault of only current government.. there was zero work done by your mighty successful past government in auto mobile sector ..

Dude u getting upset over nothing. He didnt mean to accuse india, infact he's saying Indian govt would have given its citizens more variety in 1000 cc range. it's just a punctuation mistake. he missed a full stop. Read the sentence again.

thanks

Lol, this is must be too embarassing for "Nothing". :)
On topic: Indian govt does not own maruti anymore, so wont be able to do anything if it happens.

Id rather ride a donkey than an Xli.

Good if they are enacting EURO-2 in Pakistan.
in India, now it is (Bharat Stage/Euro)BS-IV. although, it makes Automobiles pricey, it brings latest technologies to the developing countries. hence, imo, a welcome move. the best thing happened in India is, the common rail diesel engines available for diesel vehicles. also, the HCV(heavy commerical vehicles) sector also benefited due to enforcement of BS-III/IV getting world class trucks and buses.

Alto car is very popular in INDIA among the middle class segmant, its new Kappa engine is a powerful engine for a 1000 cc design.
Heck I despise the owners of the car when some one driving a alto over takes my Ford Figo 1.2 litre perto engine.
it is hyundai i10 which had kappa engine. lolz alto has k10 engine which is supposedly extremely fuel efficient. still, it is sad to see old shape alto selling along with new alto(a-star) in india.

Pakistan Auto sector has written the book on public private cooperative corruption.
They are selling a 30 year old car for a little less then a modern car with all new tech and safety.

The first thing a competent government needs to do is remove all restrictions on competition, including terrifs on importing cars.
Lets see how the mehran survives in a truly free market.
