Overcoming Turkey’s policy blunder concerning India

You are again going back to the same line Chandragupta was a punjabi king, he was no bengali or bihari. I have given you name of 3 historians who say he was a punjabi here is another historian Appian of Alexandria (95CE-165CE), wrote Roman History and says Sandracottos (Chandragupta) was the king of the Indians, dwelt on
river Indus.
You haven't given me the name of a single credible writer which states he was a bengali

I already know these quotes Seleucus and Gupta was on the brink of war, where would he be placed? He was moved from eastern India to Taxlia bu Chanakya. Mauryan empire CAPITAL is even in Eastern India

Look where the important sights are, in eastern India. Pataliputra has been the capital sense the beginning.

.
Look up the kingdoms of Bharat, you will find Porus's clan a part of it. His clan(Pauravas) was one of the tribes that fought off "barbarians" like the Iranian tribes, Greeks, etc in the Battle of the Ten Kings..The Persian kings Darius and Xerxes claimed suzerainty over many of the Pauravas, but this claim was loose at best. The most powerful tribes, led by Ambhi and Porus, were conquered by the Macedonian Emperor Alexander the Great in 326 BC. Porus fought a fierce last stand against Alexander at the Battle of the Hydaspes River. Alexander was not able to conquer the entire area due to his army refusing to fight the Nanda Empire further east. By 322 BC, the region was eventually conquered by Chandragupta Maurya, a teenage adventurer from Magadha, who later conquered the Nanda Empire, and founded the Maurya Empire.

The imaginary kingdom of Bharat exists only in the minds of indians, It was Bharat who was a descendent of ancient Puru clan not the other way round. (Read India: The ancient past). You talk like as if Kingdom of Porus shared a border with Nanda Dynasty. Nanda dynasty was hundreds of miles away from Kingdom of Porus. Kingdom of Porus shared border with Kingdom of Nabhakas(present day indian punjab, haryana, himachal pardesh), kingdom of Matsyas and Kingdom of Nishada of Rajhastan. Nanda dynasty controlled the states of central and eastern india not western india.

Chandragupta was a punjabi king, he was crowned King at a ceremony in Taxilla Punjab. Case closed.
Do you really thing a bengali can rule over pushtuns and punjabi.

Look where the important sights are, in eastern India.

Yes the east Indians did rule over Punjab. Mauryans are a good example.

Example, and pretty much all of them had Palaputra as the captial.

When that happened there was no Porus Kingdom, Pakistan was part of the Empire of Alexander the Great

just look at the eastern border of Alexander's Empire, Today it corresponds to border between India and Pakistan. Amazing, now i know why pakistanis look so different from Indians

Man, no need to show the maps of Gupta and Pala empire, Pakistani historians especially Dr Dani have rejected any Indian empire ruling over Pakistan. Dr Dani was the foremost authority on Central Asian and South Asian archaeology and history, he was given many awards by indian government.

Guys the thread is looking like a history textbook at school level already, please get back to topic.

On topic the said ouster of India means that India should be engaging all the regional powers in the world and Turkey is a power in their backyard. The focus of India has been pretty much centered in the regional and western areas. The exception being look east policy and the recent engagement of middle eastern states which has to pick up pace.

What are you talking about? Do you have some sort of fake superior complex on the internet buddy? Its well accepted that he was born in Eastern India, and that he was from a poor background.

Turkey is a power to be reckoned with, It has always exerted its influence over the south asian region, if it wasn't for the turks there would have been no islam in India today

Really? That surprises me. Turkey is Europe's China, according to the Economist and has 7-8 times India's per capita income. It is also the second largest military in NATO, the largest standing army in Europe and a country that until recently, commanded an empire six times larger than anyone in India ever did. I think it would be very imprudent and unintelligent to not "care much" about Turkey.

Turkey’s economy is dynamic and currently supported by strong underlying trends that point to long-term growth ahead. Its economy is the sixth largest in Europe and in the top 20 worldwide with a 2009 GDP of $615 billion. Turkey’s per capita GDP of just over $8,700 is greater than any of the BRICs. Industrial output leaped by 21% in the 12 months ending March 2010, inflation fell to 6.1% last year from double-digit levels a year before, and public debt is less than 40% of GDP.

The Next Big Emerging Markets? - Precious Metals - Resource Investor

In terms of future predictions, George Friedman of Stratfor has this to say (Turkey features as a major world power in his new book. India, interestingly, does not.)

Stratfor?s George Friedman: Long Turkey, Short China

IndexUniverse.com (IU.com): You and I have discussed Turkey in the past as one of your favorite areas of the world for investment. Why is that, and is it still true?

George Friedman (Friedman): Turkey is an island of stability in a region of chaos. To the northeast, you have the Caucasus, with Georgia and Armenia; to the northwest, you have Bulgaria; to the south, Iraq and Syria; and to the east, Iran. Of all these countries, Turkey has the largest economy. It is the 17th-largest economy in the world.

It also has by far the largest and most capable army in Europe, possibly barring the British—and only possibly. Turkey has a substantial internal market and a substantial middle class. It has interesting wage differentials [against other nations], and a lot of American companies are looking at it as a place to go, not only to produce products, but to sell them. And of course, it is perfectly located strategically, with easy access to Europe, the Middle East and Eurasia.

It has weaknesses, such as the political split between the Islamists and the secularists. But radical Islam is not a major issue there, despite occasional terrorism. The issues in the southeastern part of the country with the Kurds are quite serious, but they don’t threaten the broader security of the nation.

Visitors to Istanbul will be stunned by the amount of economic activity. There is massive construction. And the banking industry is quite conservative, so it’s done well during the crisis. The Turks looked at some of the alleged sophistication in the banking system in Europe, and they were not impressed, so they decided to keep things simple.

IU.com: It may be an island of stability, but it’s surrounded by a sea of trouble. Shouldn’t we be concerned about having neighbors like Iran or (more distantly) Russia?

Friedman: Turkey is so strong militarily that neither the Russians nor the Iranians would dream of messing with it. In fact, both countries are very solicitous of Turkey and make sure they don’t alienate it. You’re really looking at the 600-lb. gorilla of the region.

IU.com: Then why is it overlooked by the investment media? You never hear about Turkey.

Friedman: The American media is not very good at covering the world. They operate out of stereotypes that are 20 years out of date. For the same reason that the financial media wasn’t very good at covering the financial crisis, they aren’t good at covering this.

Seriously, what you have posted could be true; however, Turkey is just a blip in India's FP radar and I am certain it also true of Turkey's

what afghanistan has got to with india in the first place???, didnt US come with the policy called afghan-pak, and why india was not involved in their regional SA agenda, its clear as soon as US is gone, their is no role india there at all, pakistan will like central asians, turkey to play their role there, and its a wise desision by AKP to honour the opinions of pakistan, their best and true friend..bharatiya is always for its its interent trusting them would be a wise man's last thing to do..

.
This is politics at play. We all know why SA was invited. We obviously know why India was not. AKP is not a administration that always makes logical decisions on these matters. Therefore specifically with this administration ideological reasons will come into play more. Cooperation with India will continue of course but shunning may still happen.

my dear turkish bro, u know pakistan is the 90% player in afghanistan, and u also know, pakistan is a good friend of turkey, then keeping this in mind, will you try to bring the hindus at the table meeting which doesnt concern them and too just for sake of US pressure and to dishonour their best friend's will just thinking by US india is future shoopar powar, i dont think so

India shares no Border with Afghanistan and there are no real cultural and historic Links between India and Afghanistan. In the History Afghanistan were ruled by two Turkic Empires, the Timurids and Mughals. In the 1930's the new founde'd Turkey kept close Relations to Afghanistan and helped the to built a Military Academy.

Are you claiming the mughals?Akbar onwards, the rest were as Indian as any one else.

You can also chose the Way of Domination, but don't forget Turkey is strengthening it's Relations with it's Turkic Brother States ! If India is seeking one side'd Domination we will deny it ! Don't forget what happen'd under the Timurids and Mughals, History can allready repeat !

People should be careful about remembering history this way. Maybe we should remind you about the Mitanni then? Silly!

We can seek other Solutions than one sided Domination. If all regional Power in Eurasia and south Asia will seek peacefull Solution of our Conflicts insted of Dominance, we can built an Union like EU. Such Union could include Eurasian and south Asian States like Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This will be a big bebefit for all mentioned States !

and dont forget how Shivaji Maharaj formed a Hindu kingdom which became so strong that even AURANGJEB with his full massive mughal military and struggling for 27 years could not defeat it. for British yes they colonized us. but we are independent now.we inherited their nice military structure.. so dont worry about us.

That is all right buddy but that does not help us much if we don't engage them more. I hope u understand that the past while helps us to understand the faults and positive points it only does to certain extent.
