Fighter jets, we have a very successful plane. Submarines we build. Missiles, we got them by the truckloads. We do lack in attack helicopters but we have started works on it. I'm not mindlessly comparing our achievements but endless stream of propaganda only ruins actual achievements.
there ain't gonna happen any war of Iran with any country .. All are just rumorsWAR !

Iran's Air based Qader has a range of 200km, russian air based version kh-55 cruise missile has a range of 2000-3000km so a cruise missile with 300km is not going to be very heavy and ultra-big.having an air to ground missile with a range of 300km is insane !!! the warhead of an air-ground missile should be very heavy and though a missile with that range should be ultra-big!!!
i think as the title says , they are talking about an A-A missile ..........
keep AIM-54 (200km) in your mind, 50% extra range, nothing special.Iran's Air based Qader has a range of 200km, russian air based version kh-55 cruise missile has a range of 2000-3000km so a cruise missile with 300km is not going to be very heavy and ultra-big.
But an AA missile with a range of 300km is quite a difficult task.
u maybe able to compare it with K-100-1 but R-37 is out of the equation ! u cannot compare a missile built in 2014 with a missile built in 1980 no matter which country built it!
plus tell me how is it significant less to have a missile capable of downing of a fighter like f-22 from 300 km away , while it cant do anything in response ? the only good point for that fighter would be that the pilot has enough time for ejection !!
EDIT: one of the other significant strategic advantages of this missile will be its AWACS KILLING capability
if f-22 and awacs are took away from us army , whats left ?
AWACS killer? Bringing on a 300 km missile means you've been already detected. And the F22 has already seen you before you can even see it like on the F4 vs F22 when it sneaked up on it.
lol....
This missile will be fired from Iranian stealth fighter Qaher F-313
AA missile with 300km range doesn't have a place, Even If It has radar guidance. You are talking S-300 examples on aircraft but You know How huge long range radars They are using to guide a capable missile like S-300 towards a range of max 200km's. Which Airborne AESA radar you are going to use to fire/guide that missile against a target moving with a range from 300km? Is there such a capable radar technology Iran has at present? Suppose that Missiles' own radar homing will be activated at terminal phase but USA AIM-54's radar was activated at last 18-20km range. Suppose that Iranian missile seeker radar will also be same capability. What about remaining 280 km that airborne AESA should guide the missile at mid-course ? How possible is that ? If Development of such a long range AA missile was a perfect idea in terms of strategy/engagement, payload capacity, effectiveness..etc, Why Any NATO states doesn't use that example ? An ALCM with a range of 300km is more logical...
New Recruit
okey one by one :
second iran already produces upgraded AIM-54 dubbed as "FAKOUR" also known as AIM-54 A+ anyway how is it possible that iran move backward by designing a missile less capable of the one the produced before ?? so be sure it has a much more terminal radar range of 20km
The Fakour-90 is NOT an upgraded version of the AIM-54A. To their credit, the missile is using the aerodynamics of the Phoenix missile and mainly the guidance system of the Hawk missile. It is a medium range air to air missile as mentioned in the main article with an estimate range of 30 miles. The missile is to fill the missing Sparrow F which the Iranian F-14s never received. The benefit on this missile if and when it goes to full production, will be the compatibility of the missile with the F-14 pylons which will enable them to load more missiles than the TWO adapted medium range Hawk missile.
about your claim on fighter radar for initial guidance , The AN/AWG-9 radar is all-weather, multi-mode X-Bandpulse doppler radar systems used in the persiancat ;
u know that the system was used by iran even as a mini-awacs as it has such a long range ~300km , so the total missile range fired by f-14 can be theoretically much more than 320 km
The AWG-9 radar's max range in PDS mode is a bit over 200KM and in missile range mode for Phoenix, TWS, is around 160KM. I tend to agree with Cabatli that you do need to have a radar that is able to perform in TWS mode like with a range of 320-350KM to be able to fire a 300KM AAM!!!
let that alone iran has already upgraded f-14 radar and is even capable of replacing it with an AESA one as u mentioned :
quote :
"Iran successfully produce a new generation of the globally known version of F14
An Iranian Air Force commander announced here on Tuesday that the country overhauls and optimizes different types of military aircraft, mentioning that Air Force has even installed Iran-made radar systems on the sophisticated F14 fighter jets.
One of the main reasons which the Iranians have failed to produce fighter planes or aircrafts for that matter is their lack of technology in the Jet Engine area; especially, the area concerned with the metallurgy of the components used. Granted some experiments may have been made regarding fighters like Saeghe, but still the body is from F-5s as well as the engines. Again to their credit, these are good steps towards progress and experience, but need to understand that even some European countries as well as Russians use U.S. and French technologies in their fighters nowadays!!
All this said, I believe the Iranians have done a great job in overhauling their F-14s and keeping these birds flying.
"A while ago, the air-based Qader missile was also fired by an F4 fighter jet and hit the target precisely after flying 200km in range," he added.
If this is an AAM or AGM, I fail to see how the F-4's radar can detect that far ahead creating a new abbreviation called BRR, Beyond Radar Range!!!
