Navy Day: When Karachi burned for seven days, historical victory of Indian navy over Pakistan

.
Our current navy will face similar circumstances if not improved
We don't need navy, It don't serves our requirement, It is incapable to counter the potential threat from seas and sucking more money from national budget for useless toys.

And what is your requirement?

When was the last time Indian Navy attacked Karachi or imposed naval blockade?

Just because navy doesn't work on your fantasies of buying aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines, that does not mean we don't need navy.

.
Bollywoodish title. Karachi harbour was hit and that's all.. the same PN hit dwarka during 1965 war with complete impunity.

Not to forget PNS Hungor sunk and dameged INS kirpan and kukri frigates around same time.
LOL....No one was killed in your attack on Dwarka. Only 40 shells were fired by Pakistan and the bombardment lasted only for about 4 minutes. Looks like all your facts about Dowarka bombardment are from ISPR funded movie titled Operation Dwarka which was released in 1998.

BTW Indian navy Killer missile squadron destroyed 3 of your warships within an hour and PAF aircrafts which were in air minutes after Indian attack damaged another Pakistani vessel thinking that it was an Indian warship.

Medical science really need to develop medicine for typical denial mode kind of guy otherwise you will continue to spread your virus everywhere. In case of any war against india our navy don't stand a chance. Its better to spend on more effective and productive resources.

Hitting Back
upload_2018-12-4_17-14-8.jpeg

On the evening of 5 December, Flt Lt Shabbir A Khan was standing out on the B-57 tarmac watching preparations for the night missions, when he was informed about being detailed for a strike on Okha harbour. He, along with his navigator, Sqn Ldr Ansar Ahmad, rushed off to the operations room to start planning the mission. Two hours after moonrise seemed like a good selection of the TOT, as the glimmering sea would clearly outline the edges of the darkened harbour.

Taking off at 2210 hrs, the B-57 got a fiery send-off as the AAA opened up in the nearby Karachi harbour, signalling an air raid. Continuing the take-off, Shabbir and Ansar settled down to watch – with unnerving anticipation – the moonbeams dazzling the creeks and estuaries of the Kutch Coast to their port side. Finally, turning to the attack heading, they picked up a sizeable flotilla on their radar, about 20-nm to their starboard. There was a temptation to go for the ships, but discipline prevailed and they continued for the designated target. Reaching the pull-up point, Shabbir pushed the throttles to 100% power, while Ansar started to guide him into the attack. Just when Shabbir pressed the bomb release button and there was no release, Ansar realised that he had forgotten to arm the release switch. In a fraction of a second he flipped the switch on and Shabbir pipped the button again, pulling out of the dive narrowly. After some 10-odd seconds, there was a tremendous flash of light and the aircraft shook up with the blast. A direct hit had been achieved as nine 500-lb bombs slammed into fuel tanks and other stores at the harbour. In the meantime AAA had started to fire and the sky seemed ablaze. Shabbir and Ansar saw the shells continuously exploding along the aircraft’s flight path but luckily, the bomber escaped unscathed.

The attack had been a tremendous success and, news that the home base of the missile boats was in flames turned out to be thoroughly cathartic for all and sundry in the Pak Navy and PAF. A pair of F-104s which visited Okha for another attack four days later, reported that the harbour was still smouldering and the smoke could be seen from as far as 60-nm. The Indian Official History of 1971 Indo-Pak War notes that, “two air attacks were also carried out on Okha and some fuel tanks were set ablaze, thereby denying the missile boats any further use of this port as a forward base.”[6]

Just like to point out that the total Indian naval losses of 194 killed in action (Post#45) are completer nonsense as these alone happened in the sinking of the INS Khukri on the 9th December, are we led to believe that no Indian naval person died pre or post this incident specially during the attack on IN base Okha which burned for over a week.

Statistically the bigger, more advanced and economically superior force has trumped over the smaller enemy.

How do you think empires grew bigger and badder..!

Sure, but we are talking about a complete blockade over here. Its the equivalent of laying siege to a castle, or if you play games like Eve Online, then its the equivalent of laying siege to a Keepstar, extremely difficult, while your resources deplete, the enemy has endless resources considering its their home ground where the supplies are stocked and produced.

Nonetheless, PN needs a lot of upgrades.

Did you guy's know that President Ayub in 1960s was least interested in the navy. His reasoning was sound. Pakistan has no seafaring tradition. Furthermore because of the geography of war between India/Pakistan sea plays no role whatsoever in the outcome. Attendant to this because of the disparity between population resouces between both [nearly 7:1] Pakistan has to use those limited resources in the most effective manner possible which used to be army/airforce. Today that has been superceded by nuclear forces.

The only way sea would be relevant is if Pakistan was -

  • a trading nation
  • a nation disposed to long wars - lasting year/years
  • has most of the population living on the coast
Non of these are applicable. Pak is not a trading nation [ask FM Asad Umar], Pak cannot fight wars longer than weeks because either money or amunition runs out or guts to keep going on or stamina [mercifully neither can India] and only about 8% of the population lives on the coast. The core population lives in the north, thousand miles from thew sea.

India on the other hand has vast coastline, huge populations living on the coast, many ports, massive trade and juts out into the ocean in a V- shape. For this reason we can expect India given it's huge population also [second in world soon to be number one] to invest in naval power.

On the Pak side what I am rwading here is mostly fanboi's who talk of Alexnder when the only thing they know about him is he has a suffix 'Great' attached to his name, others out of misplaced pride.

Perhaps, but now no longer applicable due to the fact that Karachi is located on the cost, and the entire Balochistan coast, specially Gwadar, are being developed due to CPEC. Karachi accounts for a huge % of the country`s businesses and economy and working, whilst Gwadar is being developed to be literally like the next Dubai and a global sea trade hub, so your navy is now very much relevant, in fact of high importance, should not be neglected at all. Furthermore, Pakistan is also now under taking expeditions in its sea to find oil, and so if we do find oil in bulk, then you will have to plant down rigs, and for their protection, protection of trade vessels for Gwadar, and a lot of supplies coming through Karachi, your navy is not only relevant, it is probably of huge importance.

We don't need navy, It don't serves our requirement, It is incapable to counter the potential threat from seas and sucking more money from national budget for useless toys.

The navy is good with the little budget it has.

Again I ask the same question when was the last time Indian Navy was able to bomb Karachi or impose successful naval blockade so that you got to the moronic conclusion that we should wrap up navy completely.

Answer please.

How on earth low IQ shupppaaaaaaa powaaaaaa bhangi can accept their incompetence.. so your reply is as expected. lol

PN ships were there to attack not for picnic, they did their job with impunity, no one came to defend dwarka. You much larger navy was hiding during 65 war.. shame

Lol ISPR is much more believeable then liers who teach they sunk the ghazi, have fake war trophies all over.. keep your Bollywood stories with yourself. I never denied that Karachi harbour was hit ships were sunk. I only said PNS hungor sunk and damaged kripan and kukri frigates around same time..

Dwarka was not even a military base. That is why India did not suffer any casualties during that "strike" There is a difference between attacking a tiny temple town with no military facilities and destroying the enemy's largest harbor and blowing up their supplies of oil.

I am curious, how did the Ghazi explode? Did it blow up by itself?

.
pakistan attacked dwarka for its hindu hatred ,it was gunning for the temple,as no naval base is in dwarka ,it hit a post office and cow shed ,this shows the radicalization even in military planners and gives a clue on why pakistan should be treated differently

You can be at the mercy of your enemy but I certainly won't be. PN does need modernisation however having a navy is better than not having a navy. Do you want to give up Gwadar and Karachi? I don't. Port Qasim will be at the mercy of India if we didn't have PN defending it.

You forget the fate of INS Khukri. Do you know where INS Vikrant was hiding?

I am curious, how did the Ghazi explode? Did it blow up by itself?
Yes. It was laying mines. Sadly one of it's own mines hit it.

Again I ask the same question when was the last time Indian Navy was able to bomb Karachi or impose successful naval blockade so that you got to the moronic conclusion that we should wrap up navy completely.

Bro it's people like him that support the PTM. No point fighting with a brick wall.

Dear Indians a little exaggeration on your part. Yes your one ship did hit our ship but they never were left alive to tell the tail because on Dec 10 1971 hangoor Chase the ship and reduced it to dust killing every Indian sailor on board and not leaving one alive. I will be not harsh on you because dead men tell no tails. You had no one to tell you what happened.

Here the ship still sits in Karachi.

The Kukri was not even involved in op. trident. None of the INS vessels involved were sunk or destroyed ny Pakistan, nor did India suffer any casualties. It is for that reason Op. Trident is considered one of the most successful naval operations since WW11.

And if you want to talk about the kukri, you should mention the ghazi, which sank even without the Indian Navy's assistance.
