That is just sheer stupidity. When it is presented that China had widespread famine, it does not literally mean that every Chinese was starving. When the US suffered the Great Depression, there were plenty of people with much to eat and lived the good life as well as those who struggled but managed to eked out some security. Wide spread famine or economic depression mean the ailment is not isolated to a particular region of the country but throughout the country, the ailment is seen to varying degrees.
