Less about their vote bank and more about their own vested interests and those of their patrons. The rich don't care if you live or die, they care about the loss they will incur if their businesses shut down. So the government will make you work for as long as they can.

And no, it is not about the economy. The economy will take a dive whether you lock down or not. When there is no lock down, when the medical system is choked, when, God forbid, there are more deaths in a few months than all the casualties in all of Pakistan's wars combined, where will the economy stand then? Where will be their vote bank then? So they trade our lives for a little more profit.

Not to forget that other more responsible governments have already set examples of what works. Less responsible governments have also already set examples of what does not work and what not to do. No points for guessing what would happen if strict corrective measures are not taken by the government either, we've already seen it. Heck the Iranian government reached out to the Prime Minister and told him not to trust herd immunity.

Now that you know the reality, I strongly recommend that you learn the fundamentals of economy first and then ask me questions which I would be very happy to answer. It is not my job to educate people who are ignorant and don't know the fundamentals. Join a college or university or whatever. Also, once you have learnt a few basic things about economy, I then suggest you go a learn fundamentals of 'Viruses', and then ask me, I would be very happy to answer them as well. Oh Gosh ..... common Flu kills 600,000 people every year. What are you going to do - lock people up for sneezing? ..... For God's sake use your head! ..... Are you going to lock up poor people in Pakistan for having cold and flu so that they can starve to death? Now if you are really interested, Go to Center for Disuse Control (CDC) and get the numbers yourself. In US, 100 people die every day of common Flu. Again, I am not making it up - go CDC website and check it out.

Apart from power generation and healthcare related industry, everything else is pretty much non essential.

1- Get the hospitals ready with all the medication, ventilators, trained doctors, etc. The logistical stuff.
2- Isolate elderly 65+ age people or people with respiratory diseases.
3- Leave all other people to mingle and go about with their daily lives.
4- The Human body will develop Anti-bodies against the virus. Corona virus is a 'naturally occurring' virus just like about 100 different virus types discovered on this planet.
5- Attend to people who require more medical help.
6- If we don't do this now, most of the population will not develop immunity against this virus. And next year, we are going to have an even BIGGER outbreak.
