Lieutenant Syed Yaser Abbas Nominated for Nishan-e-Haider (نشان حیدر ) by PM Gilani

Lieutenant Syed Yaser Abbas was on phone when he heard the news of terrorists attack on the PNS Mehran Naval Base. Terrorists with their sophisticated assault weapons and night vision googles were able to evade the surveillance cameras and entered the base by cutting the barb wire fence.

They went straight for their planned target, Pakistan Naval Aviation’s P-3C Orian aircrafts. They fired their RPGs at this big four-engine aircraft and one of them was able to hit directly to the aircraft which set the aircraft on fire.

This fire led to the destruction of another P-3C which was in close proximity of the burning aircraft. Blasts of RPG hitting the aircraft and the explosions of its fuel tank were heard in many parts of the Karachi.

Nishan-e-Haider i dont think soo. first of all he was not in rapid response team he deserves Sitara-e-Basalat ... u know wat Nishan-e-Haider means??? it means their is no difference between Karnal Sher Khan,Shabbir Sharif,Rashid Minhas,Raja Aziz Bhatti and Lieutenant Syed Yaser Abbas.....
read the profiles of all persons who were awarded NH and see the difference.....
It should be awarded to soldiers like Captain Bilal Zafar Shaheed,Captain Bilal Zafar Shaheed,Captain Salman Farooq Lodhi Shaheed S.Bt. T.Bt,Captain Salman Farooq Lodhi Shaheed S.Bt. T.Bt these are the soldiers who embraced shahdat in face of danger killing atleast 7-8 insurgents all alone...
Rapid response team cant even handle 14 terrorist all alone... Nishan-e-Haider.... i dont think so
all these people i have mentioned should be given NH..... they havd shown true bravery....their mothers didnt cry for NH they know wat their Sons derserve and that is Shahadat....and thats it.....

Zardari will accept Nishan-e-Haider for him for sure.. he needs something to make people satisfied.. although Capt. yasir embraced Shahadat, the enemy arrived and did the harm to national asserts as they planned.

Its hurting to see a young patriotic soul dieing that way but Nishan-e-Hayder has its parameters which in my opinion are not met.

BUT don't forget that Navy hasn't received any Nishan-e-Haider in any war.. so the Navel Head might also agree to grant Nishan-e-Hayder to Capt. Yasir Shaheed.

If we cannot grant medal of praise justfully.. what pride would you have in Nishan-e-Haider anymore?

Hint: Raja Perveiz Ashraf (Minister of Water and Power) is granted Nishan-e-Imtiaz when country is facing 18 hours of loadshedding in many parts todate.

Though I respect the Shaheed Lt and may Allah place him in heaven, Ameen, but the Nishan-e-Haider is for the lions of Pakistan and we have not seen any evidence of hard core combat in Lt. Yasir's scenario. He responded quickly and evacuated the foreign engineers safely, but we have not seen any evidence of a bi fire fight with the terrorist thugs? Still an open question, if there is additional info. please share? But on the other hand the fire fighters responded quickly too and were shot by sharp shooters just like the Lt, why not give them Nishan-e-Haider too?

He was a combatant in that fight. His job was to (as I read here) make sure the foreigners were evacuated safely, failing at which could have brought immense embarrassment for Nation.

He also knew there was barely any information on the insurgents or their location, except for the fact that they were very well trained and heavily armed. And yet he managed to evacuate the foreigners.

While at that, he was also clearly aware that ignorance about the number and precise positions of the insurgents would very likely lead to his getting killed. And that's exactly what happened; yet he was successful in his objective by taking bullets till he reached the point of no return.

I think Nishan-e-Haider was well deserved.

Totally agreed. Sitara e Jurrat. OK. But Nishan e Haider??? Only one Nishan e Haider was left. Now looks like it is going to be controversial too.

Anyways who is going to award a kick on the as$ of Mr Kayani,Mr pasha and Mr Noman Bashir for their failures which lead to this disgrace that happened on 2 May.
