You seem to be not getting the point everyone else has. The carriers you have will have little or no bearing at all on any war. The fact you listed everything India needs in order to DEFEND the carrier shows that even the Indian Navy do not have an offensive mindset. You made my point for me.

That leaves 10-14 ready to be deployed on 2 carriers.

That only barely is enough to have a regular 2 aircraft CAP for the carrier and certainly not enough for any offensive ops.

In the meantime, and as you state, around 1 third of the Indian Navy will be needed to protect them.

It's surely one of the biggest jokes in the naval world.......

Again, either deliberately or through a lack of understanding you are avoiding the main point. The carrier is useless. It will barely be able to put up two fighters during war considering the disaster that is the MIG-29K. What effect or outcome will the carriers have other than wasting precious IN resources in defending them?

You're right , aircraft carrier are useless nowadays. As we have mid ar refuelled, plus islands can be better used . I think india doesn't want to loose the expertise or experience of building and operating the aircraft carrier.
Navy damm well knows most useful in war is submarines not white elephants like aircraft carriers. And this applies to china as well. I bet aircraft carriers will be moved away from battle field the moment war starts.
