Kurdish forces battle ISIS, blasts kill 47 in Baghdad

After having seen some videos of ISIS, I think they're just a ragtag group of idiots seeking glory. Most of the videos include shitty Arab background music, and losers you can find on any street corner in Arab countries trying to play the part of Islamic desperadoes. The Kurds, despite their smaller numbers, will annihilate them.

Yet they have routed the Iraqi army and Kurdish Pershmerga

If it wasent for air strikes irbil would have fallen by now

They should have, the Army of an otherwise fractured and volatile nation was being held together by the cult of personality around Saddam Hussain. With him out of the picture, loyalties transferred to tribes and sects and it was inevitable that when faced a domestic insurgency, members of the army would harbour some sympathies for their kin among the rebels. Add to this the brutality of ISIS and you have a greatly expedited rate of desertion.
I fail to see how American Policymakers could oversee this crucial piece of information and consolidate the military better before rushing their exit from the country.

Modern day Iraq is a artificial nation made up by drunken British officers, i think Iraq will remain somekind of Arab identity but the Kurds will go their own way.

You sure about this ? Kurds, especially their mountain fighters have proven to be tough, they faced Saddams brutal Republican guards and still stood their ground. I cant see bunch of Islamist militant cavemen defeating them.

Barbero said that the peshmerga, which roughly translates to mean "those who face death," have the "guts" to fight, but they have very little ammunition. Barbero speaks with Kurdish officials regularly and said that he was told they lost control of the Mosul dam because they ran out of bullets.

State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said Friday, "The Kurdish forces have played a critical role in addressing this threat. We understand their need for additional arms and equipment, and are working to provide those as well so they are reinforced. So we are bringing a lot of firepower to bear against this threat, mainly by helping the Iraqis."
Only because the Kurds ran out of bullets. Once the US supplies them, ISIS will be wiped out.

US should coordinate with the Kurds to wipe out ISIS,only they are capable of doing it

more liberal and accepting my as a-
bla bla bla-
Their best shot of creating a country for themselves will result in probably lot more deaths-
wondering why it would be all hunky dory and accepted and wondering how long we have till it becomes another extremists problem for the world--

Honor killings happen in India and Pakistan too yet both people have their own countries. So why not the Kurds? Since the first gulf war, these people have proved that they are capable of acting like a responsible society more so than a lot of countries that support, sponsor and finance terrorism.

The Germans didn't do anything to stop what was happening to the Jews. They watched as they lost their money, possessions and finally, their lives. The Turks still continue to deny the genocide. There are still thousands of crimes going on today which go on with no one saying anything. Anyways, how do you respond to a terrorist organisation? Tell me that. You want to protest? Protests don't do anything against terrorists. Do you want to write on the internet? Writing on the internet won't do anything. What do you want Muslims to do?

The examples you cited should be the very reason why Arab nations should act. I don't want to guess their motives for inaction. Yes, some of the governments are in bad shape and cannot do anything. However, the gulf states do have enough fire power to do what the US is doing. They don't have to send in an army. But a few air raids on ISIS wouldn't hurt, would they? How about turkey? They have an modern Air Force and are considered one of the top 10 military powers in the world. What are they waiting for?

If the Muslim world doesn't want to do anything, that's fine by us. We'll take care of ISIS. But you don't get to complain about our methods. Deal?

The US isn't some international police force which has to take care of everything.

I disagree, Turkey should coordinate with KRG Pershmerga and Pakistan should help eventually too if needed.

1-) We won't help, ISIS still have Turkish hostages.
2-) Turkish Army won't help Peshmergas who are cooperating with PKK.

Maybe, some intelligence sharing but nothing more than that.

Isis will conquer krg without us support. Recent fights have shown Isis is capable of pushing them back at fast paste and conquering strategic positions without a lot of effort.

I agree with atawolf. Without U.S support im afraid ISIS will easilly overun krg as we saw before U.S airstrikes. This is not to say purshmega forces are weak. No they have shown their courage and strength by courageously fighting these jihadists pigs ISIS for weeks now. Hopefully our governments in the west /U.S(together with our sub contractors in the region: turkey, saudi Arabia and GCC countries) stop supporting these terrorists in Syria while fighting them in Iraq. This is just crazy. Im beginning to believe we want a destabilise middle east like some conspiracies theories say. :undecided:

The true face of US/west will be visible once IS will pose no threat to KRG anymore. It was tragicomical seeing EU leaders suddenly advocating for help towards Kurds while they didnt bother about the sunnis and shias of Iraq. US too only showed up once its interests in the north were in danger, whether protecting the KRG is a part of it or not is debatable. There is a clear sign of selective sympathy (everybody's mouth is full with Yezidis and how Kurds are 'great' allies of the US) among the western leaders and media about this Iraq case. That, plus the cold behavior of is against israel, and how US together with its sub contractors UK and Israel supported certain groups or committed dirty deeds in foreign countries in the past raises the chance that IS is yet another group with the aim to destabalize the ME and prolong a larger sunni-shia conflict. It sure seems Israel and Kurds are the ones who will benefit the most from IS in the end.

There is just a lot of hyping up of KRG in the news. If you read the reports, KRG troops are badly trained, a lot of troops to young or too old, seen too many winters or too few, no exp fighting and there is also internal rivalry, bad fighting mindset and bunch of other problems. What is not lacking is arms or manpower. KRG has enough arms but they are just incompetent. IS is not simple terrorist. They have mastery of the art of war and Kurds have the motivation but not the skill and courage of a lion to prove they are fierceless fighters as some like to call them out on social media.

Yes, that would be a funny sight. KRG, PKK and TSK all standing in one rank fighting IS. And afterwards PKK would use the weapons gained against TSK.
