Saudi Arabia has called on its embassies and representative offices abroad to reinforce the use of the Arabic language globally.
Abdullah Al-Washmi, secretary-general of the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Arabic Language Service, said the center aims to “revive interest in the Arabic language and to trench Saudi Arabia's leadership in activities and programs for celebrating World Arabic Language Day.”
“The center also aims to invest resources, launch quality projects that serve our national language and encourage institutions of both the public and private sectors to promote the language,” added Al-Washmi.
He said the center has put in place a plan that involves promoting World Arabic Language Day.
“We have scheduled several meetings to discuss the importance of preserving the Arabic language. An integrated comprehensive program on the use of language by youth in modern social media is being organized. This will bring together university students and professors to discuss the visions of youth on the subject. We will then publish a scientific book to which researchers in the Arab World have contributed.”
