What's new

Just watched the comedy called TopGun Maverick

Yep, and same results.
I kind of agree with the jingoism and patriotism based war movies being a very cringe genre but there have been good ones with high production and moving stories of human sacrifice, courage etc

Their whining because they hate how successful this film has been. It’s a pro-American military film, therefore its bad. Yet they all watch anyways.
The original Top Gun was also a pro-American military film and Pakistanis loved that. We don't hate pro-American military films. I find believable propaganda movies fun to watch but the propaganda in this movie was totally not believable, the cinematography was nuts though.

.
I just watched the TopGun Maverick and now I am sure the Hollywood is taking some inspiration from Bollywood
Tom cruise destroyed not one but two Su57s with a stolen old F14 . Three overall Su57s destroyed in a movie with a zero American casualty. All after successfully completing a impossible mission from a fighter pilots perspective
So that's the only thing that you noticed? How about the fact that the enemy runway was destroyed by cruise missiles but none of the SAM sites were destroyed using the same cruise missiles in SEAD missions.

Kher, it was a movie and should be viewed as such.

P.S. The only country that has F-14's outside of the US is Iran so maybe they were destroying Iran's Nuclear Silos; besides, Russia has dozens of Silos and the premise in the movie was to prevent the enemy from getting a Nuclear Silo.

Big words coming from a human being that by all accounts is using an intel chip on his laptop to write this and owns either an Android or an iOS run phone and knows at least a dozen people (elderly) that have taken the mRNA vaccine and the minute anybody has needs any medication, defaults to the best available which likely comes from an American pharma company. I see a lot of bitterness .

And yes movie was worse than the first one

Finally a light hearted and low tension thread that may be made it to a dozen posts before the insults of 'my side is better than yours' started.

Okay that aside, my issues with the movie :
1. The call signs were completely idiotic and not realistic
2. When the Super Hornets take off on their mission they are all banking left off the carrier unusually close together. That is an image that a slow moving Corsair non-cat launch off a WWII carrier would have looked like. Not cat shots with afterburner
No that's the typical horseshit comment comes from the muricans or pro muricans. We invented this , we invented that and bla bla. First of all in the past few decades most of it's technological progress is the result of a successful US brain drain strategy I.e getting top intellectuals , scientists etc of other countries who were infact a product of their respective country not the US. Just look at the percentage of foreign scientists working in NASA. Even the android you mentioned is the product of Google and googles cofounder Sergey Brin is Russian. Secondly even if those inventions are really American than for god sake it doesn't mean you should make stupid movies totally away from reality and damage young minds and youth of your country. As someone who knows Russian language and watched lots of Russian TV serials and movies I greatly admire the Russian cinema for it's honesty , no bullshit plots and always a very realistic representation of facts. Despite their little budget and industry they really know how to make movies.

Not just that, they were launched just few miles from the coast.. No coastal defences or warning until they reached the valley.
Must be Pakistani airspace, we did not detect helos during OBL raid-

This reminds me of how some Muslims said that since Steve Jobs has Syrian ancestry, Muslims should share some credit of Apple's technological successes.

Lame *** comment from a lame *** 400 lbs murican sitting a couch eating junk food and collecting his welfare checks.

That stupid US team lost a heli.. and waited 30 minutes for the next to go back. The entire town knew but not our armed forces. This fiasco is so stupid at so many levels that just shows we are accomplice.

Any movie needs to be taken for what it is, a movie. There is bound to be exaggeration and plot armour if it wasn’t then who would want to see a movie where the carrier is destroyed at sea by a anti ship missile or something. That being said I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, probably one of the only movies in the last 10 years where I was on the edge of my seat the whole time grinning like a 10 year old and imagining what it would be like to pilot one of those beasts.
we hv sci-fi for that

And yet Tom Cruise and the producers are laughing all the way to the bank with your money. :D
video piracy zindabaad... :P

The last Su getting shot from the 6 was hilarious.

Movie insinuates the pilot was so busy trying to score a kill on Tommy there he apparently didn't notice his cockpit lighting up like a Christmas tree.

Suspension of belief fine but this was over the top lmao.

I loved Top Gun: Maverick, definitely ended up watching it twice. The production quality was great and when the afterburners came on it was great experiencing that sound. The film is really captivating and engaging and that is why I loved it.

Honestly I love indulging in a bit of fantasy and this movie killed it for me, like how they portrayed Maverick as an aged Super-Ace pilot. Like honestly, the biggest give away is showing flares as chaffs, but it doesn't matter.. reality is not always better.
I was psyched when he took on the SU-57's, and honestly the first kill was a sucker punch, and the second encounter was purely experience and skill on Mav's part that made them survive. He was a goner on the third encounter...
The only thing that irks me though, Why didn't the other F-18 show up on the radar of the 3rd SU-57, also why didn't the missile either? Was it a BVR?
EDIT: IT WAS PROBABLY A RADAR GUIDED MISSILE THAT RADIATES NO PULSE.

Anyone with two neurons in their brain would discount the official account with the amount of holes it has, they couldn’t make a legitimate story to cover their screw up if it was the last thing they could do. I mean seriously 30 mins their in your country lighting up a house close to PMA and you come after they leave like a nokar to clean up? Lol

The issue is not about Jobs' immigrant status, or not. It is about how much you strain to associate the failures of countries to the successes of the US via their immigrants. It means human talents are everywhere but governments fails to give the people avenues to express those talents. If something came from US, we get the credit, not the countries of the immigrants, that is how the world sees it. We are not perfect, never said so. But we are better and better enough to attract human talents of any kind from anywhere. The one who is truly lame is YOU and your jealous kind.

By the way, I am a fit 160 lbs American. I am a first generation immigrant. In high school in Hawai'i, I learned how to fly before I got my driver's license, then I joined the USAF F-111 (Cold War) then F-16 (Desert Storm), and currently in the semicon industry. Am credited with a few patents in collaborating with other semicon pros in several projects. Nothing earthshaking but enough to secure my job for a long time. Been working since I was 12 yrs old and never had a welfare check in my life. :enjoy:
