JF-17 trumps the Viper in certain domains

He also cannot make claims which are incorrect as potential customers will enquire. So your point is not relevant

How would you know is claims are correct/incorrect, you are not a pilot, you had never flied on a F16,JF17 or any other planes for that matter. What you do is hearsay. I dont even get why you are bringing this up.

Hardly, for the same effort he could have claimed the JF-17 having certain advantages over say MiG-29 or the Mirage-2000 which the adversary operates rather than comparing it with a system operated by the PAF.

Its his mouth, he can put things into whatever perspective that is.

A general has to take into account of various issue. Your assumption is hardly explanatory.

Ever heard of the expression....'Power entails responsibility'.... He's the head of a professional organisation and what he says goes on record, it's not a case of an Air chief making claims of shooting down so many enemy fighters which can not be verified, there's a good reason why the JF-17 is gradually increasing it's role in the ADA duties and elsewhere the Americans were keen to see it's combat capabilities.

Thank you for enforcing my point of view :D

I can confirm that 45 minute turn-around time is correct. Consider this information as open source. There is a bit more to it than just turn-around time. The engine change is also extremely fast.
What kind of turn around? Rearming and refuelling? ... .... 45 minutes? ... ... Seems too long. I have heard of 7 minutes.

Less than 10 minutes for the Gripen in this documentary:

When I was a crew chief in Germany and France, in the late 60,s, we could "turn" our CF104,s to full "combat mode" in under 17 mins....normal flight schedule was 42 missions per day and in "tac eval" mode we even flew 100 missions in one day....

Don't know about fighters, but since there are many other 'combat aircraft' out there........

I do know you can turn a C17 around in 40 minutes from landing to takeoff, unloading and reloading 18 463L pallets in the process. That's not a 'fastest speed' that's repeatable. Hot pitting a 17 would probably add another 30 minutes to the timeframe.

I didn't know about the Saudi EJ request.
With respect to geometry work I am sure even now they can put pressure on the russians to do more to fix the problem. Its not s if we are not buyingtheir engines in volume. 100 plus already and counting
There is nothing better than the prospect of losing business to put nations into gear regarding releasing newer technology. Let us look at it from the Russians perspective. They have us in a barrell at the moment. Why would they release newer technology when they can sell older technology at an inflated price Now out comes WS13 with FADEC and better MTBO which is less smoky. What do you think PAF will say to the Russians and what will be their response?

Agreed

after 98 nuclear tests when Pakistan was under US sanctions than How PAF maintained the F-16 Fleet without US cooperation ( spear parts and services ) ?

Hi,

The fleet was barely in existence---it was a skeleton---.

You don't run a national prime strike force in that manner.

. .

I would say that in addition to these points, the accessibility to the source code and its communication bus based written in C++ gives a substantial edge over Falcon in terms of freedom to integrate e subsystems and weapons of choice. With F-16s PAF has a lot of limitations but there is no limitation in case of JF17. JF17 also consumes lesser fuel due to its small size and hence less drag. The strakes provide addition lift which means better performance at lower speeds. JF17 also has AAR which considerably extends its range. And then no fear of embargoes and our own control over the design and number of units are invaluable strategic benefits. And yeah, the last but not the least is the export potential and the invaluable experience gained in the design and developed of a figherjet that will go a long way in help Pakistan's foray into the development of the next gen A/C.

This is truly going to pay dividends in the future, no need to worry about any congressional amendments we have demonstrated that we have the potential in the not too distant future to be serious players in the industry.Kudos bro

Pakistan will survive so our enemies are disappointed since the obituary distributed among themselves, like always, was premature. We have found alternatives to USA for our defence needs those include friendly nations (China, Turkey, Russia etc) and our own indigenous MIC.

Suppose you have to change the engine? This is what 45 minutes is about.

I read it in Dr. Bashir's paper about JF-17 that he wrote a couple of months ago. I do not yet have his permission to share it. The paper had input from senior PAF officers. ACM(R) Kaleem Saadat was among those interviewed and who offered corrections to the said paper.
