JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 5]

I think PAF is trying to multiple goals in single iteration (Block- II) which is causing delay. It includes improvements in avionics, IFR and latest weapons integration etc. These require rigorous testing and evaluations. Plus the process of pilot training is also running in parallel. All these things are being haunted by worsening economic conditions. But then again, optimism is the way forward. At least we know that IFR testing will began later this year. Perhaps these development and improvement efforts make PAF stick with Russian engines for now as going for a brand new engine would require much more testing.

It's a flawed article, extremely flawed. I mean, why would the potato known as the F-35 be on there? It's not even complete?

...oh and number 2 and 3 are bombers, not fighter.

But seriously though, as much as we pride ourselves on the JF-17, it shouldn't even be on the top 10 list, let alone top 7. It's a good fighter, but most other 4.5 gen fighters would absolutely outclass it. The only thing attractive about it is that it is an amazing replacement for cash strapped countries that also want to replace their older fighters. Value for package is extremely attractive for buyers, but if you have the money, just go for an EU, US or even Russian fighter.

Did not know this.. Are you sure about it ?

@Oscar . Is this true that the FOC for JF 17 is still not completed? Or is there another compensating certification that has been done.

This have more to do with weapons delivery then the aircraft. Since there are many weapons that are still in delivery phase so FOC is not awarded. A few examples includes SD-10 and stand-off land attack munitions.

We have seen JF-17 with these weapons but since the production is not delivered so no FOC without extensive firing evaluation. Do not mean that JF-17 have not or cannot use these weapons:

once enough numbers are received to equip the Squadron there will be firing and exercise/evaluation with FOC following.

What does the acronym 'FOC' stand for & what does it mean ?

And dont even attempt to correct them, as soon you do that, they start qualify you of "golpista", im not sure what is the exact traduction, but a golpista is a person who wants to set up a coup and bring down the goverment.

The reallity of the situation is, for most of the people, the militarys are murderers who want to bring down goverments, and its good that they are in a bad situacion so they cant do that.

There are a few ones like me who can see reason, but is a rare thing.

Maybe your government is like Pakistani government...born, raised and paid to serve master uncle sam.

Argentina Read it..

The Argentine army receives the highest allocation of the total defence budget, an average of 40.5% over the review period which is expected to increase to an average of 41.1% during the forecast period.

Yeah, no, the thing is, both salarys and pensions comes out of the defense budget, thats the only reason of the increase, if any.

Adquisitions and Fadea budget does not need to come out of the defense budget. Also the militarys have no word on any of that either, they must use what they get.

Fadea is working on several proyects, yes, still they have not delivered a single plane in the last 6 years.
